John C,

Tell your man that even though the theft occured in France he can report it at his local nick, as long as he dosen't want them to investigate it......

They should get you a crime number for insurance purposes but it is rare that you actually NEED one, they just ask for one!!!

Quick update

Just to let everyone know we are adding some things for Malaga Beach to try to offer players more security. Firstly the Players Area has one entrance and is the only place you can access the fields so there is no need for players to leave the area during their session. Paint, air, tech stands, food, drink and toilets will all be provided in this area. Next we are working on a security device for each team table allowing you to lock your markers up between games and fianlly we are adding a secure cloakroom area where you can check in your kit bags etc so you can enjoy the tournament without having to lug it around or leave it lying around. Nothing would make me happier than getting to the end of a tournament without anybody's kit being stolen.

ok, this may sound far fetched, but stick with me....

i was talking to a couple of mates who reckon that the new pcb type pin-hole cameras are really cheap now, (less than £50, thats nothing compared to a price of a gun!) they can be set up remotely with a motion sensor - so they record images when they detect movement.

like nick said, how do we know its not players tea-leafing?

so im gonna have a look into this, imagine just placing one in your kitting up area, if anyhting gets nicked you should be able to see it (presuming you got a good hiding place for the cam), plus if nothing gets nicked you will have a load of images of your day.

anyone know anything about this?

or is this completely illegal - taking stills without any consent? im not sure where this stands with the law.

Probably illegal - but if you get some a$$hole on camera in his team jersey - then you just unscrew some table-legs and bring some friends... ;)

It's great that the idea is being addressed and I hope that something like this gets picked up at all major tournaments. The check in sounds a bit clunky, but a strongbox idea as Nick mentioned would be great.

Nordic Challenge will have a secure holding area for players equipment. You can deliver your stuff in, get a receipt and collect it only if you have the receipt and matching players card.

We will also have video surveilance of the entire players area so that we can go back and look on the tapes if anything is stolen.
