I went the route of profilers - good solid masks never failed me, then switched to JT Proflex with hard ears for mask selection (I like how customizable they are plus all the usual, great viz, dual pane, breathability, etc.) Masks are vital but see what you like the feel of.

As a man on a budget the second hand market I can recommend it :thumb: I have two Vanguard Creeds (excellent markers) and soon an Etek 2 never used one of these, I've mainly been playing walk ons so far but i'm looking to change that once my broken rib heals. :).

You may not always get a box and manual but for example the creed has all documents available online + the forums are full of people who will help if you have any issues. I don't use the cases provided I keep them safe and clean for potential later resale .

The SLG I bought first of all will be going in my first sale having never personally fired it on the field, why because it was problematic from the start and still is and unless you are a fan who is familiar with that marker (my opinion) setting it up ain't that easy (it still throws out 3 balls on a single trigger pull when it's set to semi 12bps) granted it is an older model and I may be cussing a whole brand but like I said my opinion based on my limited experience. But its worth noting because it was malfunctioning or not performing as it should the marshals would not allow its use it was like it was ramping :tsk: so you need a marker that is reliable.

Planet Eclipse markers are good if however you wish to go the route of scenario style play tippmanns and bt markers may be cheaper and often use steel tanks with remote lines but you will only get a basic un-modded setup for your money but they are reliable from what I have seen.

What I did is a shopping list for play.
Mask-£ 30/40
Marker-£
Tank-£ I got a fiber tank 9 months before retest £85
Hopper-£ I got a dye rotor for £80
Pack-£ 20/30
Pods-£ 20/30
Playing Gear-£ Get as you can afford
Total = Top end without marker £265 retest on tank £25+postage

My budget was £600 I spent more and continue to spend more than my budget :D paintball is not cheap but it is fun, when my marker broke the site owner lent me his mini so I could carry on playing.

Well it depends what gun your looking for. If your looking for a woodsball or scenario paintball gun then you should be looking to get a tippmann 98 custom which would be £110 new and about £90 second hand. If you dont wannt to get that get a BT Omega which will be £120 new £100 second hand. If you are looking for a tourny marker get a second hand ego 8 for about £250. You will also be alowd to use that for scenario.

For great goggles on a budget (less than £30 new) I would recommend VForce vantage. I've got 2 pairs with different lenses in them. The lenses are cheap and easy to swap/clean. They are single pane but stay fog free, especially with a good anti fog on them like CatCrap, and get less damaged by paint on inside than dual pane thermals. May not be the height of fashion but they are cheap and reliable. I've tried at least 6 different makes of goggles in the last 2 years, and still prefer wearing these or JT's proflex. The Vantage gives better ear/jaw protection for woodsball, and I tend to favour my proflex for supair.

Spend more of your initial budget on kit than markers, hoppers and air.. it'll pay dividends later on.

You could borrow/hire/loan a marker until you have more money to afford one.
