Dear Teams and Players,
First of all we would like to apologize for the delayed response but apparently some e-mails got caught in our SPAM filter and we have just been able to read through them. In the following e-mail, we will try to answer the general questions that those of you writing us have had concerning the event. This is not a generic mass e-mail, so if you have received this it means we have gotten an email from you asking for more information regarding the event.
The final leg of the Turkish Professional Paintball League (TPPL) will be held on the 11th of November 2006 in Istanbul. Registration is still open, but you will have to act quick as the number of teams are limited due to finances and infrastructure. Most of this information can be found on the tournament website at
www.tppl.info/en.
Foreign Teams:
Yes, it is true that foreign teams will not have to pay fees for entrance, accommodation, the player party/boat tour and airport/hotel/venue shuttles. This is not a joke or a prank. Basically, if you are a foreign team that registers for the event, your main expenses will be travel to and from Istanbul and paint.
Hotel / Accommodation / Shuttles:
The teams will be staying at Burhan Felek Sports Facilities (in Zeynep Kamil, Uskudar), which is where national team and olympic athletes are housed prior to competitions. The hotel is situated in the city, surrounded by commercial and residential areas and is approximately 30 mins from the airport and 15 mins from the venue. Shuttles will be available from the airport to the hotel, from the hotel to the venue, from the hotel to the boat trip/players party and all respective return trips. More information on the hotel including pictures of the building and rooms as well as shuttle schedules can be found on the tournament site.
Venue / Tech Support:
The event will take place at Beylerbeyi Stadium, a grass-surfaced professional soccer field on the Anatolian side of the Bosphorus, with a great view of one of Istanbul's two large bridges and of course the Bosphorus. Two fields will be setup, with the layouts announced on the tournament website. Teams will be given tables in the team areas, access to which will be limited to registered players and team personnel. Talks are still ongoing regarding onsite technical support and currently it seems that there will at least be an Angel tech available during the event.
Paint Brands and Prices:
All teams participating in the event will have to use tournament paint available at the venue. The following brands' availability have been finalized:
TC Paintballs Probox ($45), Draxxus Blaze ($50), Draxxus Inferno ($55)
Talks are ongoing regarding the inclusion of other brands at the event.
Format / Rules / Divisions:
The tournament is a 5-man tournament, with format and rules very similar to the Centurio EEPL. All participating teams will be playing in the same division due to how earlier legs of the TPPL were organized. All teams are expected to be playing a minimum of 7-8 games. The list of registered teams can be found of the tournament website, and is updated daily as registrations are received and accepted.
Expenses / Food:
Accommodation includes complimentary breakfast and dinner for all players. Lunches will be available at the venue for a fee of around 5 Euros. Expenses might include additional meals/snacks and shopping.
Communication / Invitations:
Invitations will be provided by the organizers to registered teams that require them. The contact details for organizers are provided below:
