well the nice woman in thomas cook said its prob best to take turkish lira, might get stuck buying things (beer) in euros

Travel insurance: If you've got a bank/credit card call them first to see if you've got it with them as default, some have. If not make sure any insurance covers you for repatriation as an air ambulance home (say if you break something and need traction etc) will cost £30k upwards, used to work for a company that did them.
