Not try, if i remember rightly, he shot several players out from the trees, got spotted and ran off into the woods....was promptly caught and ended up in a ball on the floor "crying his eyes out like a girl" :)

That's essentially what happened. If the fellow had been a bit younger at the time (I think he was in his early 30s if I'm not mistaken), then perhaps I'd be more willing to cut him some slack. Youthful indiscretion, emotions got the better of him, etc...... Unfortunately he proved himself to be a cheater, a fool and a complete pussy (crying like a baby, give me a break). It will likely take years to erase the bad reputation he created for himself.

Not that it makes it any better and not that I think more of Salm, but I wouldn't exactly believe everything said about it, especially by the GZ guys.

Listening to them (cough--Red--cough) everyone on Avalanche got shot out on the break and wiped while Jeremy sprayed several cases of paint from the woods, the whole time ordering around the 30 ninjas that came running from the woods bunkering out GZ guys.

I saw the game and truth be told, they didn't need Salm. I think it was a mistake because Avalanche would've won straight up (I think Chris's comment was "If you can't beat GZ maybe you shouldn't play pro..."). I highly doubt Jeremy had any effect on the game.

That being said, it was incredibly stupid, incredibly embarassing, and should have been punished even more than it was.

And yeah, I know getting some game out of a Novice team doesn't qualify Salm as a paintball genius, but a coach doesn't necessarily have to be a genius. But it shows me that he can help a team make the best use of the resources and knowledge they have. That's what I think anywho.

salm

What this guy did was blatant and pre meditated cheating. Bottom line. He deserves to be banned for good to make an example to every player from rookie through to pro level that being a cheat doesnt help a team.
I dont care how good a player he was in his time....... all he will be remembered for is cheating.

Punished Enough?

Who can honestly say hand on heart that they have NEVER NEVER cheated or bent the rules?

I dont think anyone in paintball can... come on guys be honest with yourself.

No one apart from the guys in Avalanche who lets face it were and are all great players will ever really know the truth of the situtation.

What Salm did was stupid, pre-meditated and no doubt about it wrong. The true reasons behind it? Who knows (avalanche as was).

I think it takes a lot of balls for a guy who was one of the best back players ever, to come back into our sport given that he knows some of the reaction he is going to get. I think he has been punished enough.. A second chance? Definately.
