just wondering are there any rules about discharging markers in the safe area, just after one or two events i attended, no names mentioned, i could not believe some of the things i saw i felt safer on the field than i did in the pit area, folk gasing guns up with barells fixed, no safety soxs fitted and in some cases hoppers fitted too, is this not a major accident waiting to happen ? i feel like a total gimp walkin about with me mask on, but really dont like taking the risk, if i lose an eye, i lose my job/pension...oh and sight in one eye ! what are peeps opinions re weapon safety in the pit areas ? am i just being a softy or am i over cautious having taught weapons safety with hm forces ?

idea ?

i think a good idea maybe to have a pit "clark" who can circulate around the pit area, keeping a vigil eye on folk, coz with us ballers i know at times we are busy thinkin about potting up, cleaning guns etc etc and safety just goes to hell. whayt the clark could do is if he catches a person neglegently discharging "ND" or is handling a marker in such a way that is likely to cause an injury, that person is automatically banned from the tourney, and the team is penalised points in the championship say 100 - 150 per stupid action this is very little to pay, when peoples lives and health are at stake ?

Was this done at a Millennium X Ball event? I have made myself very unpopular the past two seasons because I sent a few players to the sin bin because of barrel sock violations. And I have handed out hundreds of first warnings.

Some violations may have gone by me at Campaign because I was forced to ref due to two refs not showing up. Unfortunately I seem to be alone at tournaments in having a hard on for safety.

Only thing that struck me at Campaign this year was the "open plan" chrono area!
We was walking past on the Saturday, when someone accidently discharged when turning away from the chrono. It was lucky they had shot all the paint!!!

If we have X Ball in Europe next year then we MUST have the pit area sealed off like they do in America. It also must be strictly access-controlled as was promised to me.

Similar but slightly different...

Another thing that I have always wondered about is why do a lot of spectators ( seaspned players too ) stand watching a game with their heads about 2-3 inches from the netting? Yes the netting stops the ball but the netting still moves several inches before the ball bursts - surely this also an accident waiting to happen?

I dont know if this happens at MM events but does happen at smaller events. Sorry if this has been brought up before just my opinion.
