royal mail and shipping

I don't want to go to deep down the rabbit hole of what if's, but if someone sent a marker, with a Lithium Ion battery connected to it, would that be ok in the UK? What about over to Ireland?

I never had any issues shipping anything in the US, even firearm ammunition, so getting my head around the restrictions on batteries is a bit confusing.

Rechargeable batteries (Lithium Ion, NiCad or NiMh) are on the restricted list for Royal Mail within UK mainland, and are banned items for overseas/airmail shipments. They probably consider it a fire/explosive risk to air freight.

Interesting! Looks like if it's connected or contained inside an electronic device, it's ok. You'll need some specialized or at least rigid containers for shipping. Slight pain, but if contained in a device, should be ok. Or else how would all those lovely iPhone's get delivered

Extra batteries though...that'll be more of a pain and needs special stickers etc.
