If you went for the humour value you could always change it to something amusing. On the forums I run I once had an issue with the use of the word "Samurai". I filtered the forums to automatically change the word "Samurai" to "Fluffy Bunnies".

Problem solved and much hilarity ensued :D
I did a similar thing with 'jeff abbott' - you wanna guess what it comes out with????

Proud to be a punter

I consider my "punter years" as a good time in my paintball career

A time to be looked back on with nostalgia rather than embarrasment

Hi Robbo,

Could we please, if possible, ban the word punter on these forums, we should use the terms rental players or customer games instead.

I think any new player that has never played paintball before and books and turns up to play at a site should be given a bit more respect, than the term punter, some of these new players get into paintball on there very first game then go and buy kit and turn into tournament players, rec ballers or scenario players, and that keeps the whole scene alive for us all.

I run a busy site, and see a lot of new faces come through our front gates, I don’t see these players as punters I see them as customers at our site here to have a good time and if we all do our jobs right they will spread the word about paintball for us all. I think its time to clean our act up.

I do follow these forums regularly, but don’t post that much because I’m very busy on site , but I just had to get this one off my chest it been bugging me for weeks, sorry if this post offends anyone but I think this had to be said.

I totally agree though it has to be said that the average (or any if it comes to that) 'billy bunter' doesnt come on these boards and is therefore unlikely to be upset/put off by the use of the term.

Certainly in my past I have worked on a few sites and would never use the term around the paying customer as it is condescending at best.

were always taught at warped not to use "punter" and its common sense really. because to some people its offending and when you want your customers to have the best day of paintball they ever had, courtesy goes along way. its also great to meet new people down at warped and have a laugh down the site with the customers.
it has to be said that if you treat your customers right they will return and they will have great days of paintball.

we have had women down the site that are that full up on adrenaline that they asked us if they could play with no tops on. and thats no joke.

Down at the sites, we never used the word in fornt of the customers, some like it, some don't, so always best to avoid it. Here though I guess that most people here are already into the sport so the word really means nothing to it, so on the forums it is more a generic term rather than a derogatry one.

Calling people newbs tho, that grips my ****.....
