Risking more than a ban...

I had a thought while reading the "Campaign Cup – The Beginning" thread, theres one part about the sharks playing Philly's Finest and it says "but the Sharks had played out of their skins, especially against some blatantly dirty guns" reffering to the Phillys guns.

Now my point is, in America using cheat boards in markers is only against tournament rules, but in England it's also against the law (unless im misundterstanding what is meant by dirty guns). Do players feel the need to cheat so much these days that they would risk a brush witht he authoreties?

I don't know if ive misunderstood this but it just seems a big risk to me...especially at such a high profile event.

Your thoughts?

If the guns were indeed "blatantly dirty guns" where were the refs? Where was Morris? Or was this merely the opinion of a pro-Brit crowd?

Perhaps our esteemed editor can explain when he returns how he judged them to be "blatantly dirty guns." I've yet to read that x number of Phillys were suspended or worse so how blatant were they, exactly? Blatant but uncatchable? Blatant but not really illegal?

High profile, Edd? Maybe for paintball but c'mon, you expecting a raid for possibly law-breaking firearms violations? Or are you making an anonymous phone call tonight?

every single gun of philly's was checked beforehand and every single one had to be set up to not bounce. fourth or fifth game in a marshall took a philly gun and double tapped it, took his hands off the trigger and it carried on firing. now if that isn't blatantly cheating, i dunno what is

The refs couldn't make them fire that fast so what can they do without a robot?! etc etc

I wouldn't think the cops would notice really unless they knew what they were looking for.

Thats if anyone didn't tell them that is...;)

there was one gun on the phillys team that was insane in the membrane fast (the guy played back right) and unless he injected pure crack into his fingers, it wasn't right.

Was that the guy who wouldn't let the marshall take a look at his gun?

I think you would find some Police officers would know that a full-auto paintball gun/marker is illegal under the firearms act. After all an understanding of this legislation is fairly important for firearms officers. Paintball markers fall under the general category of air weapons (as has been discussed numerous times before on the forums) and any full-auto air weapon is illegal in England and Wales.

I think using full-auto at CC is not only against the rules but incredibly irresponsible. If the local area commander did get wind of the fact illegal firearms are being imported into the UK and used at CC how long do you think it would take to shut the tournament down? How do you think this would reflect upon tournament paintballers in the UK who are already struggling to present paintball as a legitimate and self-regulatory sport?

Any player found to be using a full-auto marker in the UK should be banned from all tournaments in the UK and any other Millenium event in my opinion.
