Being relatively new to this and unsure of rules and Etiquette.
Are Riot Shields allowed for walk ons? Clear perspex ones.

Delta Force use them but clearly with the objective of making clients use paint?

Have mailed my local site to ask them but am looking to play at others at some point.

I've played games where they use them for certian scenario's. But I'm fairly confident in saying that you won't be allowed to just bring your own and use it lol.

I would just ask, but given these would allow you to avoid elimination these would be in specific scenarios

I have a riot shield that I can use when doing onfield coaching if there is a lot of paint flying around... but they are bulky and is hardly used tbh

Ask - in normal circumstances it will be part of you & you equipment so you are out
However, put it into a game idea and people may be up for it

I have a shield, but none of the namby pamby clear ones you can hide behind, mine is black with a corner cut out for your gun etc

Try approaching with your head poking out and a pistol in one hand

Awesome idea. All I need to find now is an unattended / unlocked police vehicle, They wont be mad if its only for paintball right?

Under normal rules it'd count as an elimination if it got shot, since you generally need two hands to shoot properly I can only see it being a hinderence on field.

Will see what the sites say, doesn't hinder too much as use a mini and small bottle, just plant into cover and fire round the side, good for drawing fire too.

Problem is the rules are read into way too much, unsure why it'd count as a hit when it defeats the object of having it in the first place.

It'd count as a hit because that is how paintball is played.

Have you tried airsoft?

No, reason for wanting to use one was to mix things up a little, change things from the usual manner which I am sure some will agree is a little boring and repeptative at times, especially when you get the Spec Ops wannabies with their 400 round box mags set to full auto spamming away.

I suppose it depends what you want it for, a shield to carry about with you, i.e. a portable bunker, doesn't sound like a good idea as the end scenario is two people stood shield to shield reaching thier markers round to shoot each other at point blank range.

If you just embed it in the ground at the start of the game and leave it there it might as well be a pallet or a pile of tyres, i.e. just another bunker on the field.

I hope those spec ops wannabies aren't shooting full auto - that's against most sites rules and possibly against the law but I know what you mean, someone ramping at you can feel like full auto sometimes. The trick to learn against them is snap shooting, don't come out of the same side or hight of your cover all the time and don't do it in a regular rhythm, you'll probably find they are so busy concentrating on thier stream of fire they'll miss a couple of balls coming back.
