I think many people are too concerned with rate of fire. Now don't get me wrong, there are instances where the faster the better, but for the most part, it's not going to make a huge difference if you're shooting 5 or 8 or 14 bps.
Now, back on topic, it does look foolish, yes, but then again, if that's what it takes to win, that's what you'll have to do. There is a better way though, just walk it.

Not true. I've tested some of the new Dragun markers, which have a trigger pull longer than that, yet can easily be walked.
hay, dude i want you to come watch one of my back players, he fans it and if you get in front of his LOF, you are eliminated, he is amazingly fast especially at fanning his Timmy!!

Walking the trigger is more accurate than fanning it, back in the day
when i started playin ball I used to fan my trigger but then realised walking it is alot more accurate and a hell of alot faster
