I live in an area of the countryside which is owned by the national trust - does anyone know if you can simply use this type of land when you want to for hosting big games or do you have to get permission from the council, national trust etc?

much obliged.

I've no experiance at this what so ever, but i should imagine there are all sorts of people you need permission from. The local council, health and safety, maybe the police, and others. These are just a guess though. Perhaps the citizens advice could help.

You can't it's owned by the National trust, they'd never let you use it. Only way you can run a big game in the UK is to own a lot of land or rent it from someone.

Listen to hotpoint people.............he actually KNOWS what he's talking about.

It's illegal to just walk into a forest and play paintball in the UK... unless you meet a whole list of criteria (insurance, HSE, not within range of a public access etc.... etc.....)

Is that with paying customers? What about using your marker on your own land, or a friend 's who has given you permission.

Surely that would just be down to taking reasonable precautions, to avoid being charged with reckless endangerment or something.

What's the good word Uncle Hotpoint? :)

You can use a marker on land with permission as long as the owner controls who is on there at the time and that you are using the markers a set distance away from any public access/right of way. I'm not sure tho if there is a restriction on numbers (probably a bit like what constitutes a riot :) ) any more than a certain number would probably still come under hse requirements somewhere.

Basically marker use follows the same rectrictions as for an air rifle.

Personally I don't reccon it's worth the risk unless you own the land and can guarantee to be away from all non-involved parties...

the sentence that could be incurred really is not worth it.

Now if we lived in the USA .... yeah dream on...............

Armadyllo is right. There is a really nice bit of land just behind my mates house that no-one uses but because it close to houses, not ours etc etc... we can't go and blat each other :-(

On the other hand I have a mate who owns land and is well out of the way of the public. It also has signs saying 'Private Property'. If a citizen wondered into the game zone then he/she runs the risk of being hit. I wouldn't aim at someone who wasn't wearing googles but you get the picture!
