Thanks, but is this info valid for this years event? 2004 event will be near the Amsterdam city limits, Spaarnwoude.

I got it straight from the horse's mouth that it won't be at the same place as last year. It will be on an open grass field and will not be confined to the infrastructure/setting of any sport park. They will build it to the optimum. I expect it to actually have a better layout, from what I heard, than last year, and last year's layout was great.

All I got regarding location was west side, so maybe it is in the same general vicinity.

Yes, I dont know where DMA2003 was held, but according DMA´s webpage, this years event will be in Spaarnwoude.
Maybe you know Amsterdam better than I do. When I look at my detailed map of Amsterdam I find Spaarnwouder-dijk and Spaarnwouder weg, the first running alongside Sportpark Spieringhorn where last year's DMA was held. So if the website is accurate and not just mistakenly repeating last year's info then this year's DMA will be in the same area but not actually in the sport park.

The promoter, Stephen Baldwin, told me at the World Cup that they would have it in an open field that would give them the flexibility to do the layout in an optimum way. He confirmed that today in a telephone conversation that had to be cut short. All I got regarding location was "the west side of town".

I suppose we'll have to speculate on the exact location until more info is forthcoming.

Actually I have no clue about Amsterdam... :D
So most likely you are correct.

I just thought that the info on dma2004.com is accurate because they mention the correct date 4-6 june 2004 in the same sentence as they mention Spaarnewoude.

This is why we need some official info.

Just at a quick glance without pulling maps out, it looks to me to be pretty near Haalem. Am I right?

I just had a look at an on-lne map (http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?X=529000&Y=6833000&width=700&height=400&client=public&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=mercator&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&scale=25000&out.x=7&out.y=6) and it looks like the name Spaarwoude on the DMA website is exactly right. It looks like a pretty large green area that (like half of the Netherlands) was probably under water just a few years ago. If you look at the map it is due west of the center of Amsterdam, due north of Schiphol and near a community called Halfweg, which, like the name implies, is almost exactly half way between Amsterdam and Haarlem. It looks easy to access from Schiphol.

I'm already getting excited about DMA and have already booked my flights, arriving a couple of days early and staying a couple of afterwards 'cause I love the 'Dam. I hope the weather is as good as last year 'cause I want to head out to Zandvoort beach and get burnt to a crisp.

I hope there are some reasonably-priced hotels that allow easy transport to the event and to downtown Amsterdam.

It's sooo obvious you do not live in the Netherlands. :D And where it does look green, it's actually all planted...nothing is natural anymore...and need I say anything about how over-crowded the Netherlands is?

Anyway...looking forward to see you again Steve. I try not to pull the X-ball horn prank this year... :D
