As a company I personally have no gripes with DF and in some ways (if what I have been told is correct) they run safe sites that are as good as any other sites in the UK.
However when they lie about what they represent it kinda spoils what I think.
If you look at the ukpba site (an organisation that is owned and run by a arm of DF) you will see the following quote...
"What is UKPBA?
The United Kingdom Paintball Association (UKPBA) is a non-profit making body dedicated to promoting, and protecting, the sport of Paintball in the UK.
Established in 1989, it has a membership well in excess of 500,000 people – all of whom play paintball or have played paintball in the past. It is believed to be the largest body representative of British paintball and has a fair claim to be considered the governing body of the sport in the UK."
Well like a few people on here I have been involved in paintball for a long time and I first heard about these about a year ago when I had a phone call from Andy Scutt asking if I had seen it, well it is obvious bollocks and I don't care why they started their arguments with the UKPSF or even if either think they have a good reason to try and win a pissing match.
The simple fact is they both represent or want to at this point the trade side of paintball and that itself means they can not represent the sports side.
The UKPSF understand that fully and that is the very reason they have supported the application from the PA.
If the PA had not been asked to apply by the sports council this year we would not have applied until this coming November when other criteria would have been met that would have assisted our application.
I have been told the UKPBA could not meet the requirements that the sports council demand but just by applying it could spoil any other application.
They have as I see it no interest in what everyone sees as the sports side and I believe they have a belief that if they get recognition they could control the site market instead of the UKPSF, I wish they had called someone who knew what could happen, because that couldn't and visa versa.
I believe no sports recognition will be awarded this year, and we will just put it down to experience.
And Gups - we like you too
