Funny you say that! In Korea the banks and an organization like Red Cross uses the swastika for their symbols. Banks well they are well hated but...

Red Cross is a symbol of aide and peace!

There is a reason why the media has the potential and intent to screw paintball out of existance: you let them. For every bad incident that goes on that gets paintball labeled negatively, we have hundreds of tourneys and rec games that never make it to the screen. WHY? Because we don't do anything to make ourselves known for who we are proactively, instead only whining and moaning and offering weak rebuttals to the negative press that gets generated first. And secondly, no one tells 'the media' to buzz off or ask exactly who the hell asked them for their opinion anyway and tell them to shut their pieholes.

The image that we are given is that which we have not worked to overcome for ourselves. Whose fault is it when you get called a villain? Yours, when you don't make any effort to be known otherwise.

KillerOnion,

I do agree with you, when you say that anyone should be allowed to carry around a banner that says F*** Bin Laden. This is, well freedom of speech but what I would also say anyone is allowed to carry a banner around saying 'I Love Bin Laden'.

Its a difference of beliefs be it religious, media driven or just plain fanatisism it is an individuals belief.

So I think if someone wants to have a Swastika on their gun, let them. They may have it there to make a point, they may be racist, they may just think it looks cool, but until you approach said person and ask why they have it there, you'll never know.

Therefore after you've asked them and presuming they answer your question then by all means make your personal judgement on them.

Just to point out, though I addressed this to KillerOnion originally as it was his comment i was commenting on this isn't directed to anyone inparticular from the sentence begining 'Its a difference of beliefs.....'

What can we do?

Killer,
What else can we do to prevent the bad media coverage? You say I don't do anything to prevent them, but I keep trying to get positive coverage at the grass-roots level. Whenever there is a local tournament around here, we try to get the papers and newsstations to cover the event. They have done it a few times, but the novelty fades to the public after a while. Whenever I talk about paintball with someone that has never played, I invite them to play with me. Thats keeps the misconceptions to a minimum, since they now have an accurate picture of what paintball is like. When I see a bad representation of paintball in the media, I write about it. Tell me, what is it you do?
