The Racegun grip has the disadvantage of requiring a conection to a PC or PalmPilot to change some of the settings such as semi or classic or the timings.

All settings on the E-Blade frame can be adjusted from the grip using the internal set-up button. There is a PC connection cable plug, but as yet Eclipse have not released the cable/software. I suspect the main purpose of this feature is to upgrade the firmware.

Personally i'd go for the EBlade, it's seems a lot more of a complete package due to the fact that you get the breach sensor eye included in the package. Although personally id recomend that you get planet to set up and install it due to the fact that it requires some minor drilling and its best to let the pros at Planet sort it out. I also orefer the fact that the EBlade has a magnetic optical trigger that has a great feel and is more reliable than a trigger with a micro-switch.

Also on a vanity perspective, the EBlade just looks soo much better. The solenoid housing is a lot more swish than the bland Racegun one, and the grip is a lot more comfortable. Oh and the EBlade has a nice LED display.

I dont see it being a disadvantage to the race that it requires a pc/palm to change settings, as once you have decided whether or not you like classic or semi mode, and have set up your optimum timings, why would you need to change anything on site?

At the end of the day, dont buy one or the other because a people say it's better - do what Topor says (not often I recommend that ;) ) - try them both.

My preference is the race, but that's cos I like my dye stickes, and can fire it about twice as fast (I dont get on with the magno trigger). Also, when I get my ACE fitted, I won't have to fiddle about with settings every time I change paint.

I have to edge on the side of the Race as well.. I've tried both and just prefer the feel of the race trigger..

With a Chrome E-Block, I think the race looks just as good (if not better) than the E-blade. and Like Flash, I don't see the PC/Palm connection as a drawback, but a bonus.

Also consider the Battery life and reliability issues of the Eblade. Just pop over to the Electronic cockers section of PBNation and see all the posts from people only getting 6000 shots from their Eblades. A team mate of mine has to change his battery EVERY event!

Race have 12 months+ headstart on Planet to get their bugs ironed out. Planet are already working on changed to the current eblade.

In short (or am I too late:)) There both Excellent products, both bringing the cocker back to life (not that it was dead in my eyes anyway).

THe answer to your question is the same as it will be for any other markervmarker question.. Try before you buy!

mmmmmmmmm well......

I used both before I chose and I liked the E-blade more. Much simpler set up just push the button and go. BUT it vomes down to personel preference.

Well here's my 2p's worth.

Having tried both for a complete tourney each before deciding which one to go for, I picked the Race, for the following reasons;

1. Approx 7000 shots from 1 battery in the E-blade.
2. The grip is uncomfortable (to wide) on the E-blade
3. I could shoot the race faster
4. I could use my own personal preference grips on the race
5. Had to turn the eye off on the e-blade as it slowed the rate of fire down, and made soup of the half black shelled paint we were using

All in all two very good products, the above was just my personal preference, as everyone here says try before you buy, but make sure its a good trial not just 5 shots at a tree

Good luck with your choice:)

Look at the teams who are using E-Blades and that should help you decide.

as far as the issues raised with the E-Blade I can only go off my experiences,

Battery- turn the display down and use rechargable batteries
Grip - You probably won't even notice the size when your playing.
Split colour paint - you can set the eye sensitivity to cope with any colour, including split shells. I've shot plenty of paint through plenty of E-Blades and never had a breech break yet.

Mugged, if you see us at any events give me a shout and I'll let you try mine out.

Warning though, one go and your hooked ;)

Nother EBlade fan(atic?) here..

Had one fitted to my Eclipse cocker and she flys now.

1) Use good quality battries and they will last. But make sure you turn the display down and set the Solenoid on time as low as possible, mines at about 3ms.

2) Black paint will not work with the factory settings, however you can alter the eye to recognise black paint (see my other thread where 7lash replied)

3) I havent broken a ball in my marker since I had the blade installed. Not one and thats about 4-5 cases of paint. I would probably break 3 or 4 per day when it was mechanical due to short stroking etc.

4) Planets Customer Service is excellent.

If you try one out and like it, go for it... you wont regret it!
