main one i can see is size, fair enough even tv shows are using go pro's for some shots that normals cameras rnt suitable for but from all ive seen the replay takes as gd footage looks simple to use too, plus youve gt to think how its mounted too, will it be gun mounted or head mounted? will being up against a can or a dorrito obscure camera shot either depending on mount.
personally im goin to try n save for a replay just as cnt see much difference in quality of footage, fair enough can record for very slightly longer on the gopro i think cause battery life might be lil longer but with the smaller profile n prefering the look of the barrel mount. but end of the day to each his own.

I've got a GoPro Silver, great video camera and not heavy, really i was surprised by all the size of it. I guess advantages are battery life if you buy a battery pack or spare batteries but i haven't used an R7.

I use my gopro on the bottom of my multirotor and though it hangs upside down i can set it to record the right way up, it can also be setup by wifi if you have the app on your phone which is much easier than faffing around with buttons (although that's easy enough to be honest). That's important to me as sometimes I'll record video and others it will be still photos.

Gopro definitely gives you more options, I've seen a few people head mounting them too. Resale on them i imagine is better as well.

i have a go pro black. and i can honestly say the go pro silver specs are thetoo simularto a
hero 2. so its not worth paying the money for one. the r7 is a nice shape for paintball compared to the go pro too.

my main reason for choosing the go pro was the fact i do a lot of different sports, wil also take it snorkling and diving. if you intend to use it for diff sports then the endless attachments and strong waterproof case will help. if just for p ball go for the r7.

with the options the go pros give you (pro tune for example) its a real video editors dream. i am still learni but it helps to be good at video editing software for this cam.

verdict: if you can push to get a black instead do it..as it comes with more accesseries and better specs.no point going for a sliver even it is slighty smaller then a hero2 its not worth the extra money. soo a hero 3 black or r7 it is :) hope that helps.
