Hey all,

Myself and 3 friends are looking at investing in a semi decent radio kit to communicate to each other in scenario games etc

Can anyone recommend any radios and how you have them set up etc, for example where do you put your mic, do you use push to talk or other methods? Any radios you can recommend?

Thanks

Ben

Hi Ben, and thank you for asking before just buying and possibly causing a faux par we get sometimes at Diamond Wars.

The radios them selves are not a problem. Basically the more you pay, the further the signal will travel. They are not like trainers where you pay for the tick etc.

Depending on the radio setup, your mic could be attached to ear piece or nearer the pressel (the button you press to talk). My mic is on the pressel, and I clip that onto my shermagh just under my mask.

Now the most important point IMO.
You asked if use push to talk or VOX. Please never use VOX. The VOX setup is great as long as you do not either talk/breath or fire your marker. Time and again we end up having to change to the secondry radio channel because somebody is on VOX and it stops any communications.

When they talk about distance what they mean is the range it will broadcast at over clear ground and with perfect weather conditions. If you are gonna be playing at "The Siege" in April then with all the buildings, it cuts the range down. But even there a 5km output will be enough.

How much are you realisticly looking at spending??

I would love to use the radio's we got for Diamond Wars, but the earpiece's we got were useless, very poor audio quality so couldn't understand what people were saying.

Can anyone reccomend some decent earpiece's? Binatone radio's with single 2.5mm jack.

So are you saying the above earpieces are of poor quality and not worth getting?

Can you recommend any that come with ptt ear piece?

I've read nothing but good views about the one above?
