I have always thought it was goofy that you make provisions for "true novices" in a continent wide series. In local 5 mans, sure. When you get a plane ticket and bring your tank through customs, it seems like it is time to get real.

What if after the first event, half the team is replaced by new players (that have not competed before but are "novices" jumping into the world of international paintball tournaments). Do those players have to move to D II with the other players with 2 events under their belt?

I know that every solution involves compromise, but paying your dues (and not seeing instant success) is something that should be expected.

Another thing...

Soz about this but queries just keep popping into my head about this.

Is there a prize for the ultimate Division winners?

If so, how will they decide who actually won Division 3 if most of the Teams will have moved to Division 2?

Play the last 2 events and you could be crowned Winner of the 2004 Millennium Div3? As I say it just seems a bit confusing to me but then I am Irish and you know what they say about us Paddies...........

If anybody from the Millennium reads this can they please clarify what exactly is the ruling.

cheers

Joey and Colin,

I am sorry to have to disagree with you, but the rule we had last year, that you can only play two events as Novice, has not been taken up this year for Div 3. It was a rule too hard to control, if a team changes name, they can enter in Novice again, at least they tried.

So for this year, that rule has not been taken up. It doesn't say that anywhere in the rulebook, if I'm not mistaking!

that's cool then,
we were told that this would be the case at the begining of the year, but if it's not in the rules then it's not going to be enforced.

Going forward, i think it should be considered for division 3.

I also think that div 3s should not play pros, only Div1s and Div2s.

Div 3 should (in my opinion) be treated as a starting out point for teams, where they can get eased into Millennium Series play without going out and getting their butts kicked too badly.

If you want to win prizes and play pros, them move on up to div 2

Maybe some methods of the NPPL could be adopted.

In the NPPL, a player can play 5 events as div 3 (mill. novice) and they are then considered div 2 (mill. am b). This seems to be smart because it doesn't affect teams, just individual players. If the roster changes and gets new players they could theoretically play div 3 for years and years, which to me seems logical.

I also think the idea of not giving out prizes is very smart. The NPPL, however, gives out a prize equivalent to div 3 entry for the div 3 winners.

Concerning points carrying over: The NPPL has a system where if you move up a division after 1 event you retain 80% of your points. Moving up after 2 events you retain 60% of your points, after 3 - 40% and after 4 - 20%. I'm not sure if this means after the 1st event or after the first event you play (which could end up being the 2nd or 3rd event of the series). Either way it seems to be a reasonalbe method for placing teams who have decided to move up a division. I realize the mill. has a few more events but a similar method wouldn't be difficult to devise.

Red,

I am in total agreement with you but would it not make more sense for any Division 3 Teams that have played more than 2 Events in their first Mill Series to be moved up to Division 2 the following year rather than during their first one?

Also, are you saying that Division 3 Teams should only play within their Division? If so how can that be a preparation for playing against more experienced Teams? IMHO I think the format is just right, u play 2 Div 1, 2 Div 2 and 6 Div3, a good mixture.

So, just to recap.....There is no ruling that states you must move to Div 2 after playing 2 events in Div 3 and the Divisions are locked.

Cheers guys

Jimmy
