I have asked this question elsewhere but nobody seems to be able to give a solid answer.

I have been informed that, as a Team, if you play 2xMillenium events in Div3, for your next event you must move to Div2, is this correct? Or do they mean after 2 Seasons in Div3 you must move to Div2?

I have checked the Mill rules and it does not seem to mention anything about the above.

Cheers

eh? Regardless of where you came in that Div? So that means that by the end of the year the EXL will have 5000 teams in it due to the 2 x and you move up rule.

Do you mean if you win the div?

Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick?

Nothing to do with Sandbagging.

I just thought that the rules should have been a bit clearer

This has been taken from the Mellennium site:

In order to give the entire series a more professional structure, we will now abolish the old system of AmA, AmB and Novice and replace them with Division 1, 2 & 3. During 2004 teams can make their decision as to which division they wish to play in. However, from that point forward the divisions will be locked except for the annual promotion & relegation of a number of teams, to be decided. For 2004 these divisions as well as the pro division, will play the traditional 7 man format, however, for 2005 we will take opinions from the teams as to which format is most desired in every division. These divisions will be offered at all 8 Millennium events.
Note: It only mentions 'annual promotion & relegation of a number of Teams, to be decided'. It also says that the Divs will be 'locked'.

Was this rule an afterthought?

Bolter,,I think we are on the same wavelength m8, if this is correct all Teams will be playing Div 1 by the end of the series.

Please correct me if i'm wrong.

ONLY division three team are affected here:
if you play (as a team) two events in Division 3 you can not play any more events that season in Division 3.

Promotion and relegation for next season are another matter that hasn't been decided on yet. I believe the plan is to balance out the divisions, having the bulk of teams playing in Division 2 is a bit outrageous. There are a select few teams who win a lot of stuff in division 2 and still won't move up, and they need a gentle push in the right direction.

Divison 3 is supposed to be for teams who want to get into playing millenniums, and as there's no prizes there's not much point in playing more than a few events.

A bit confused!

O.k, I can see your point there BUT do the points earned after the 2 Events played in Div3 carry?
If the Mellennium abide by their own rules I'm afraid they don't:

4.3: Any Team that elects to change its status will not keep any points earned previously.

Or, because this is an enforced move of Divisions will the points carry?
If indeed the points do carry, this seems pretty unfair to the rest of the Div2 Teams as the top ranked Div3 Team, Paintstorm would then be placed 9th in Div2 with a lot of other Div2 Teams being gradually knocked down the Ladder as Teams are moved up. Needless to say that if the points don't carry this would also be unfair to the Div3 Teams who would have played at least 2 Events for nothing. You can now understand my confusion.
(Please correct me if I am reading the above incorrectly)

I have looked through the Millennium Rules again and cannot find mention of this 'forced' move anywhere and before the 'cries' of 'sandbagging' and 'sandbaggers' echo through the hallowed halls of this post I am just pointing out that maybe other Teams may be unaware of this rule.(If indeed it is one)

I would also like to point out another confusing thing...if, as stated in the Millenium Press release, the Divisions are locked why did they need to include the ruling 4.3 above? If the divisions are locked Teams should not be able to change their status.

Please feel free to put me straight on this cause' as I say its pretty confusing.
