Question for new members

Bumper stickers :)
Recball sites has got to be the place to promote both the magazine and this site... maybe asking field owners to put banners up etc. Where I work has up to 450 people a weekend day so if some kind of banner was displayed at the busier sites you'd probably (in the UK) have a couple of thousand more people see the banner a week and a few of them would certainly have a look.

Some kind of pamphlet distributed to recball sites would be useful... maybe a what is paintball FAQ type thingy that tells people about p8ntballer and PGI as a way to progress if you're interested in being a part of the sport. This could be distributed either at sites or when they mail out details (which is a helluva a lot of people... as in a minimum of probably 300 per week per big site)

Just a couple of ideas.

OK my story
I hadn't played paintball for a while so when my company organized a day ballin' I jumped at the the chance. I brought a mate along as well and hadan excellent day. Soon as I got home I had a good look I went straight onto ebay and bought a second hand automag. Jeez I was hooked! When I phoned the guy I bought the marker off I asked him about where the best place was to look for info on paintball and he recommended P8. I logged on straight away and was posting from day one. I then got my mates into paintball ( a few punter days, then the big jump into them buying markers) and soon they were posting on here as well. If it wasnt for P8 I think we would all still be just going to punter days. I have met some really cool people because of the forums and it has helped us get onto the tourney scene a hell of a lot faster than we would have done if we didnt find this wonderful website. So cheers fellas for a wonderful job and keep it up.

OK I am off to wipe the brown substance off the end of me nose now

How about Planet and Smartparts having special offers only available to P8 memebers? Stick these up in the classified section and advertise this on their websites. Something along the lines of " Check out our specials on P8"

Mother, is that you?
Oi kieran, that pamphlet idea, that's the work of pure genius. Where did you get that from?

Some good ideas here, course we're doing a lot of them already (hence the growth to 44k users last month).

So...... why if we're getting 40k+ unique visitors, have we only got 2000 members, and probably only 500 of them are posting?

Crikey, what's with all the questions? I hear voices you know.

All of the other sites with forums have specialised sub forums for the different makes of marker, paintball talk general talk etc therefore if I want to ask somthing specific about the Angel I'll probably go to the Angel forum on *********city.com and know that at least 90% of the people in that forum are going to at minimum have an angel.
I love it here simply because of the amount of brit users and the tournament section is relevent to me i.e. dates score etc

Hope you get what I'm saying, I'm very tired and probably make no sense lol:D

Paul.

More P8ntballer.com stickers would be good!

Some people simply can't be arsed joining and posting on a forum. Also, when u first start on these forums its easy to get overwhelmed, and is difficult to try and join in on the topics for fear of looking like a **** (BTW i look like a **** 98.9% of the time, so it didn't bother me in the slightest).

Also, checking the forums all the time is something alot of people can't be bothered doing.. So on those occasions when they do come to the forums, all the threads have changed (dur), and they can't be arsed catching up with all that they have missed. The forums really are only for the people that are dedicated IMO.

For example, click members, top 10 posters, and goto the very end. Working backwards, out of a total of 191 pages. Its only from page 72 and below that people start having posts (and by posts i mean 2 and up!).

Another factor is that people sign up, and just forget....

Sadly, there is nothing you can do about this. As a forum is a forum (i worked that out all by myself)

As Paul said above, there is little point going into specific marker types, as there is already dozens of owner groups out there.

and Also has paul said, the only reason i come here is because of the amount of english posters. With all the other forums, you post a topic, and don't expect a reply within 9 hours or so.

Just my (and some of pauls) thoughts :)

Could this be. MIDGETFISTA IN DECENT POST SHOCKER?!

Bleh!!

Well, after knocking dad out with my rolled-up issue of PGI (Its like an anvil sometimes) it was easy to escape the Biosphere......long story short I found my way here.

A search on the net for forums brought me here....although I was reading PGI magazine for a while. The spectrum from newbies to the top end is appealling (makes me fell like a school boy sometimes) and there is always something to learn. It is also a way of contact in this sport keeping in touch with what's going-on in the world. Its simply above everything else out there for someone who wants to learn more and improve as well as great advice.

I love hearing from some of the really experienced people on this site....except Robbo....when he speaks I just feel dum! (Just kidding).

Pamphlets... all my own work, honest mate :)
Which of these ideas are being done already???
As Midgetfista said, these forums can be quite daunting for new users, most of them are too worried about looking stupid. Also these forums seem to want to be checked all of the time... not a problem for us lazy students with too much time on their hands and free net access but they soon get hard to follow if you are away for a while.

Maybe the reason this forum needs to require quite a lot of attention is the small amount of sub-forums. I think that just having a few places to post gives this place the upper hand on other sites and it probably one reason why there isn't TOO much spam on here. If there are specific forums for certain types of markers etc, cliques form and people tend to post in only one or two forums. I suppose this probably makes the forum thing a bit less intimidating because they are talking to people with similar specific interests.

This isn't an argument for more sub-forums as I think that would lose this place's unique atmosphere but I do think that this could be a contributing factor as to why we don't have so many (active) members.

Kieran, it's just that it's reminiscent of summat said in a thread about 'is Paintball a growing sport' a couple of months back.

The idea was summat like: "What about a pgi taster? 4pp flyer giving a glimpse - you know the kinda thing, faqs, 'what do I do next' etc etc. get Bully to stick his address on and plaster p8 all over the place."

Check it out, it's weird.
