surely a ball leaving a PT extreme at 280 fps generates the same force as one leaving a spyder at 280 fps

:)

Paul you're right they would, that's the issue.

It's not the force but the size of the weapon:p ;)

In the UK legally air powered rifles must have an impact force of no more than 12ft/lbs any more than that and they become Class 1 Firearms

air powered pistols must have an impact force of no more then 6 ft/lbs any more than that and they become Class 1 Firearms

A spyder with the length of barrel, bottle and all the other gubbins that old plod would look at would be to all intents and purposes classified as a air powered rifle and allowed 12ft/lbs which has been described here on numerous occasions IIRC as around 320fps with a normal weight paintball.

So 300fps is definately no more than 12ft/lbs so we're in the air rifle classification not Class 1 Firearm classification, (phew!).

The PT Extreme is most definately an air powered pistol and therefore can legally only fire at 6ft/lbs or whatever the equivalent is in fps, (I guessed that it's half 300 so 150-180 or whatever)

As far as I can gather if you have a PT Extreme chronoing at 280fps in the UK it has an impact greater than 6ft/lbs and is therefore classed as Class 1 Firearm for which you need a licence.

So you're right mate, the force is the same, I was pointing out that it can't be allowed to fire the same as a spyder, inferno, cocker etc. It was all discussd in the heated Firearms thread a few months ago.

Right I'm with you.
However theres a lot of crazy laws still out there and how many are actually enforced? lets see if I can get away with urinating on my near side back wheel in public! :D :D :D :D

Paul.

p.s. Funny though, I shot my mate with a class 1 firearm in the face/mask and he's still alive! ;) :D

Haha, Wow. :D

One of my friends picked up a PTX from last years Skyball for fun, and that's just what it's been, when it worked. He did have problems with getting the 12g adaptor setup so it wouldn't leak. There was also an issue with the pull knob on back of bolt bending down into the body and bringing the gun's operation to a grinding halt. It wasn't too hard to fix, just annoying, and when it was up and shooting in the 260's it was a blast.

I'm curious about another gun called the Zues, I think. It is also a semi-auto pistol, but I haven't heard it compared to a PTX yet.

I've had one of these things for about 18 months now. and they are a blast at a walkon.

A standard bottom line will fit on the grip frame, the hose fits in to the body just in front of the grip once you've removed the plug and fit a straight 6mm connecter. leave a empty 12 gram in place to act as a air resovoir and your ready to go. I use a 4 oz co2 tank on mine. also fitted a 14inch barrel for a laugh:D :D

my mate has a pt and to be honest i aint that impressed. He also has the bottom line set up with the 4oz co2, but hes always having problems with it and its very selective on paint. On a positive side they do look cool and fire good when they are working well. But id rather be carrying my impulse any day of the week
