Oh yeah, the schedule. Arriving and then waiting for an hour and a half before anything started sucked, and as my friend put it:

"When the first game of the day is late by an hour and a half, you really can't blame anyone but the promoters."

Also one other thing--while it was nice that they had food vendors on site, it would have been nice if some of them could follow simple instructions or learn to add.

That presupposes they went to school and/or have been living in this country more than six months. C'mon, Knobbs, all the good entry level service jobs go to American kids--you know, like Mickey D's, BK and the Bell. :)

If you are ever playing X-Ball and get a 1-4-1 call, THEN you should complain. There are no 1-4-1 calls in X-Ball.

The X-Ball schedule was behind from day one. Both generators needed to run the air systems and the scoreboards crapped out Thursday morning. It took 2 1/2 hours to have replacements brought in. A lesson was learned, and it will not happen again.

As for the food vendor. He was an absolute *******. And based on his treatment of PSP and the players, his contract with Maywood park will not be renewed for next year. I see you failed to mention that PSP brought in 1400 cases of bottled water and gave it away free of charge to any player/judge/spectator who wanted it.

After pleadeing with the food vendor to make a special "case" price for the players/teams, and having him refuse - PSP made a "special" deal with the idiot for PSP to sell water. He said he did not have the man power to handle that much water. He agreed to let PSP do it IF they would give him 20 percent of what ever profit we made on the water. PSP agreed, and then "sold" the water for free.

I also notice that you somehow overlooked the fact that the 10 man schedule finished ahead of schedule, on every field, all three days of competition.

I'm not saying that any of what you wrote is necessarily wrong, but I wanted to put some of it into perspective.

Well, I guess I should've noted that the vendors were Maywood Park's and not PSP's, so I didn't blame the PSP for that. Just stating the fact that they sucked.

As far as the free water--I didn't see that anywhere or hear about it. I had to pay 2 bucks for all my water. Where was this free water you speak of? (Not calling you a liar, just wondering how I missed it)

As far as the 10 man finishing ahead of schedule, can't argue that. Seeing the down times between games I don't know HOW it happened, but it did happen.

I wasn't trying to dog the event--it was a good one. But there were some things that were not good, even if it wasn't the fault of the PSP. Just stating the facts.

I don't know if anyone noted this, but the PA system that was purchased to keep the players on time to games was a really nice touch. It apparently worked.

PSP is leaps and bounds ahead of what it always has been, but it's still got a few improvements it could make.

I would tend to say they are definitely improved. There were alot of great moves and feats of skill happening that sideline coaching couldn't have helped with. It was very impressive.

Destroy all-comers, though? I don't know about that much. It'll be interesting to see.

1--probably just looked that way. Ref eliminates a guy and then tosses next guy in penalty box--so until folks are more familiar with X-Ball rules . . .
2--way to jump in, BW. Now we is startin' to get a clearer picture of what all went down and how it came about. In the long run it builds credibilty for the PSP and you got Knobbs to clarify a couple of his prior points. I tol' ya it was all good.

And to the Maestro--
Depends. Will they carry over the mindset too or will they rein in their games just a bit because of the finality factor--one X-ball mistake might mean one point lost, one prelim game mistake might be difference in making semis or not.

Free Water?

You mean the cases of it piled up by the registration tent? ;)

Although in all honesty, I didn't realize it was free until, well, 30 seconds ago.

I just went to the bar, got a beer, and got water for free. :)
