Try the hyper 2 reg again and see if it works with that. if it does then u have ur answer.
The leaking down the barrel could of been when u have the Pi reg on it, it might have casued an over pressure on the orings and one could of come out of its seat... (bolt)
if the bolt is still not cycling then it could be not enougth pressure getting through into the bolt....
