I just bought a SLG 2010 for my first marker, and despite a few minor problems, im loving it. I'm just wondering if anybody can recommend any upgrades for it. I'm considering buying a 14 inch barrel, probably a Un1tec, if anyone has any ideas about other barrels please recomend :) Thanks all.

Why do you need to upgrade it? Is it lacking anything, are there areas you feel you need it to do beter. If not, leave be.
That said, a unitech barrel is a nice barrel and the changeable bore sizes is a good idea. I think SLGs are cocker threaded, so you'll most likely be able to carry the barrel over to a new marker in future too.

Barrel, possibly. What will really improve the SLG is adjusting most of the travel out of the trigger
so that very little movement is needed, then you'll be shooting ropes of paint. Very satisfying!

pointless (aka "i-got-cash-to-burn") upgrades (for a SLG UL):-

- change Proto Hyper 3 reg for DM series Hyper 3 couterpart cos it looks nicer
- fit a DYE NT airport in lieu of stock ASA
- virtue grips
- virtue laser eyes
- virtue board
- better barrel (DYE CF boomstick; overkill)

i'm guilty of the first 3 listed above and the last one but came to my senses and let go of the CF boomstick for standard DYE UL barrel(s). The NT airport is pretty handy actually; i'd recommend that you get yourself an on/off ASA.

Un1tec kit is very nice on an slg. Makes a big difference. Also an on/off airport if you fancy. Other than that, it's not necessary nor is it worth it to upgrade it. Spend the spare money on a fibre tank or a nice hopper.

Out of those, only an ASA and a barrel are the only upgrades you'll see results with. An on/off ASA will allow you to stop the flow of air from your air tank, making screwing the bottle in/out much easier. I put a un1tech on my slg over the diddy little stock proto barrel and have never looked back. Un1tech's are fantastic barrels.

That's all I'd recommend on an SLG. Maybe a metal clamping feedneck, but if the stock one works fine then there's absolutely no need. Save the cash.

I don't mean to hi-jack, butbased on the last post - I have a Proto SLG that I haven't used yet - I think it's an '08. How do I know if I have an off/on ASA? If I don't have one, and I try to take the bottle off while it's pressurised, will bad things happen?

Why will the ASA make it easier to take the bottle off?

on/off asa has a screw at the front which allows you to turn the air supply to the marker off without having to take the air tank out

It also means that there's no pressure on the threads, meaning screwing a marker in or out won't be difficult. And no, not at all. The standard SLG ASA isn't an on/off, it'll just require some effort

All the on/off does is interrupt the air supply from the bottle to the gun, as an easier way of taking the bottle off. I assume you dont have an on/off, and you know it is fairly difficult to remove the bottle ;)

Bad things wont happen if you take it off as is. Might eventually pull your ASA off, but no losses there because then you can upgrade :)
