no knowck on a proto at all, mate used to have one and it ripped
just trying to help the guy make an informed decision as to what is best and the reasons for the price discrepancy

To be honest, if you're not familiar with the Proto, how are you ever going to help the dude make an 'informed' decision??? If you don't know about something, the best course of action you can take, is to keep schtum.

It comes down to personal preference in the end buddy. I have owned a DM5, DMC and have a DM6 on order. I personally prefer the looks of the DM's over protos and it is as simple as that. They both work on a very similar principles in my eyes, so when it comes down to performance, it would negligible.

I see Proto as just another product line that Dye manufactures, but it's not for me.

Whatever you end up getting, just enjoy it and as long as paint comes out of the end of it when you pull the trigger, your laughing.
