problem with the way millenium read BPS

The PA tested several different types last season and only one was found to be consistent, the cheaper ones (as you find in the Millennium) would give different readings on the same gun depending where the unit was held.
The only one we now use counts the actual balls using radar not a sound, and the bonus is it will also tell us you FPS so it will tell us everything a ref needs to know.

Not sure if anyone has said this - but...

your gun has to shoot 12 bps AFTER 3 semi shots.

Alot of guns dont have the correct boards to do this so you may need a new board.

I done some tests i got hold of an xradar chrono that tells you the FPS and BPS .
The gun was set to 10 BPS still from the milenium where they said it was 12.7 so i could not use it the radar read 10 BPS in aacordance to what the board was set to .
I then then set the board to 15 BPS and the radar said 15 BPS
I then tried differing BPS settings and everytime the radar agreed with what the board was set to.
I did not have a sound meter to test the readings but as everyone is saying the sound meters do not agree with what the boards are set too as Daniel and others are saying sound meters should not be used to measure BPS as they are nowhere near acurate enough on some guns .
The milenium should get thier act together and impose rules that they can acuratly enforce and not do what they do now and use equipment that is not ment to be used to measure BPS .
The equipment is available why dont they use it instead they handicap certain guns by reading them inacuratly.

The one they need to use and I think also the one that should become "standard" is the Radarchron made by Sports Sensors inc.
It is proved reliable and is not even expensive for what it does, about 120 euros and you can guess the millennium wont have to pay that much anyhow.
When a customer is denied the opportunity to play a game he has payed a lot of money for the technology used must be worthwhile and easy to use correctly.

and you can use the Radarchron at a distance can't you Russ, thus not getting too involved with the players movement area?

I think you are thinking of the one they use in the NXL in the states, it is a Pact timer with a parabolic directional microphone fitted.
It is very good but still relies on a noise signature.
It certainly works, gun cheats in the NXL (as far as BPS) don't happen unless it is a board/user set up fault because the chances of them being caught are very high.
The Radarchron also gives you a speed reading as well but the down side is you do have to get close to the player, the same as you do with the handheld chrono's.
