problem!! please help

Hey i bought an used shocker from the forum about a week ago. Just been stripping it down and i cant seem to get the bolts out of the empire drop forward in the bottom of the grip frame handle. They seem very rounded off so i dont want to round them off completly any suggestions. I could just leave it on but im upgrading to a hybrid one end of august so i do need to take it off at some point.

Get an old hex key and glue it into the screw using a strong metal glue etc then just undo

get a small chisel ( i think it has a specific name) and a hammer, then chisel a little grove in the screw and slowly knock the screw out with the chisel and hammer. i know thats not a v good explanation but i'm sure someone will be able to clarify.

Do you mean cut a grove into the screw and then use a screwdriver to get it out? That would work aswell but there is more chance of damaging/scratching a part of the gun.

if your really stuck you could buy one of the screw extractors to get it out...
drill small hole and screw in the extractor, screw it in till it stops then hopefuly as you tighten it up the bolt shud come undone.

dont think they cost to much and im sure you can get them in a size small enough for your needs

Cool cheers guys i want to try and do the job as less brutal as i can because i have a upped ccm grip frame and there are no scraches on it YET!!

i had exactly the same problem as you, had to hacksaw the drop in two, then saw into each screw and use a flat head screwdriver to get it out.

yer i got a shocker off ere 2 n i had the same problem . i jst gave up.

most drops are made of aluminium, so theyre easy to cut, you can get hacksaws pretty cheap but chances are youll know someone who has one.

btw i recommend the hybrid rail to replace it, easiest thing to use and nice and shiney

first off try wrapping a layer (or two) of paper around your hex key and jamming it in, sounds stupid but often does work, failing that your best bet for ensuring no scratches on your grip frame is to try and get hold of a left hand threaded bolt same diameter as the rounded key hole, screw it in and bobs your uncle, or use a dot punch (or anything with a point on it) to knock the screw backwards using a hammer (ie place it at an angle so when u tap it it will dig into the screw and force it anticlockwise)
