Pro Tour Team Captains #2

Apathy?

It's not apathy. We are waiting to see what the Plan is from the Pro Tour organiser's.

Last time I looked it wasn't you Ianc, don't take it the wrong way but I have not the time or the inclination to engage in any 'boys club plotting'. I am in the Loop and are as aware as you that things are being sorted out.
We will wait and see what happens and if it fits in with our schedule we will play the series.

If everyone would know about what is going on...how comes that we get so many people asking for information!

Thats what I though, with that in mind will there be a "guest" spot offered out to any other teams or is it just to early to say.

It seems the lack of information coming from the Pro Tour camp up until this point has been confirmation of problems with the series.

I'm not so sure there is any 'pro team camp' any more as the original organiser seems to have been removed from his position and Dye are not prepared to commit to the degree they did before for understandable reasons.

What we have now is a few people trying to resuscitate the pro series but I'm afraid without the necessary investment it ain't gonna happen and all the rhetoric in the world ain't gonna change that.

Bottom line is money, if it can't be paid for, it ain't happening, end of !

If the UK wants a serious type circuit where some of its top teams can play against each other then I think they gotta look toward themselves to finance it coz I can't see anybody else investing the same sorta money for what was got out of it last year.

AMEN ,

Pro Tour aint happing as i said last month in anyway shape or form .Its time to put up or shut up , if your good enough get a pro spot though DIV 1 MS then u devserve to play PRO................apart from that JUST GET ON WITH , stop talking a great game and trying to walk the walk when most of you are full of sh it .....

Although its name may have eluded to something a little grander than it was, the pro tour concept was a sound one and would have benefited UK paintball. It is a great way to showcase the game and one that would have eventually allowed a decent attempt at media exposure.

It also opened up the UK scene from the contunual dominance of the top three pro teams. By playing this leaue the other up and coming UK teams would have benefited from the need to raise eir game.

So it was wrong for us to spend the whole of last year trying to win a place in a tournament series that would give us a chance to play against the top teams in the UK? There I was thinking that playing the best we could would benifit our game for the future.
Not everyone can afford to commit to playing Div1 or the CPL and to me this was about as close as I was going to get. I ain't walking no walk or talking no talk, mainly because I just look gay when I do either, but what option do I have if I can't afford to play the milleniums? (thats not a cop out, I just plain can't afford it) The "ProTour" was there for me to play the best teams that I could... but then I guess I'm full of ****.

EDIT: Hermit I think you just hit the nail on the head from my point of view, the ProTour was going to improve my game (my teams game) as it was a chance for us to play the best, get beaten by the best and learn from it.

Tell me this , why does this thread keep coming back ...............

IS IT the fact that some good Teams got to knock heads or

is that fact that you all thought you where going to get to play for free ?

is that the reason that most of you are complaining ????

To be honest im not complaining because our team wasn't involved. I did think that you were a little harsh in your first reply. The aims of the pro tour were valid and would have made a significant difference to the quality of British paintball. Now unfortunately it will continue to reside with the privelidged three.

Hermit , Now , will not disgree with u ..............the idea of pro tour is awesome.....for the up and coming team ,but lets face it if you want it that bad , and i will use kellys as an example , i know they wont mind , most of them have not got a penny between them ,but they have managed to be a very good team on very few hand outs .so wats stoping any other team doing the same ?

I totally agree with the notion of working ard for success. As a manager and player of an aspiring team i am only too aware of the need for overiding belief and uncompromising effort.

The Pro tour offered many of the up and coming teams the ability to aspire to a goal. That goal was to be able to play amongst the best and learn at the same time. It also provided a unified face to the many different leagues that populate the UK. I would never expect anything for free but i dont think that this is at the heart of the matter.

When teams have spent an entire season aiming to achieve something it is only fair to reward that achievement with the place on the pro tour they had deservedly earnt. At no stage do i think that this should be a free series or that the teams in anyway deserve something for nothing. But it is wrong that the idea should suffer because of apathy and the failures of the organisers.

At the heart of this is a key concept that is very important to UK paintball. It should not be killed off.
