The Millennium Series is looking for a few good refs. We are building an international squad of refs to judge the pro games or work as head judge on one of the fields.

These refs will have their expenses paid and will be paid a daily rate.

We are looking for candidates who:

1. Are experienced paintball players
2. Are experienced at judging top-level games and players
3. Are unquestionably unbiased regarding personality, nationality or team.
4. Aren't afraid to make good, quick decisions and stick to them in the face of adversity
5. Are willing to improve their knowledge of the rules and how to judge
6. Can act as a supervisor and leader of other refs
7. Are willing to give a little "extra" to put in a good performance

Please contact me if you are interested or if you have someone you could recommend for the job.

A few questions i hope you can answer;

1. are these refs goin to do the EXL, X-Ball and 7 man Pro ?
2. are these refs in for all 5 tournies or can someone do just 1 or 2 ?
3. is it allowed in such a position to be part of a MS playing teamroster ?
4. what's the target size of this squad if they need to manage so many fields ?

thx

Good questions.

1. Two jobs: a) reffing the pro EXL and Premiere League games b) working as head judge on one of the 7-player or Division X Ball fields. There is a possiblity that a second pro crew will be needed for a second pro field at some events.

2. Having the same refs for every event would be nice but may not be practically possible.

3. Only if there is definitely no conflict of interest. We'll look into that some more.

4. We'll need a squad of 9 or 10 refs for reffing the EXL and Premiere League games PLUS another squad of 5 - 8 head refs. One head ref will be employed for every field at the events. There will probably be some rotation between the squads. We're not sure how Division X Ball is going to be handled yet.

thank you Steve,

i have some more questions, so if you like :D

1. if the numbers are to low, will the Pro/EXL divisions have first right or will the numbers of available judges/head judges be divided through all divisions.
(I mean how will it be handeled if there are only 3 head judges remainig for 5 field ?)
2. is there a plan to create/train ''pro''judges during this season so next season we will have ''more then enough'' of them.

I know how difficult it is to solve the judging problem and the reason that i'm asking this is that i'm worried about the integrity
of the games through reffing.

The moves made by the MS or the intention to make those moves are very good but i'm not seeing any details and were approaching the season fast.

Personally i rather see a part of my money (entry) spend on a judging-program than as a part of the price packages.

thx

1. I don't think we'll have a problem getting enough head field judges.

2. There will be an on-going training program and we hope to build up cadres of world class refs because we definitely anticipate growth.

There are so many details yet to come so this is developing as we go. I just got this job handed to me a couple of days ago.:)

But I think you can safely bet on a marked improvement in consistent reffing.

We've had a good response so far with interest shown by qualified individuals from Sweden (of course), USA (including some NXL refs), UK, Poland, Portugal and France.

It would be good to hear from some peeps from Germany, Spain, Russia, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Belgium, Ireland, Switzerland, the Netherlands or any other European country I haven't mentioned.

The compensation is basically €100 per day (3 days) plus a reasonable flat rate for airfare and other expenses.

It may take a while before I can answer some of my replies because my computer has completely crashed. I think it is the result of the mydoom virus I got by opening an attachment from someone I thought I knew.

If any of you get an attachment from me DON'T open it!

I hope I can get it fixed soon.

who is paying, and how much?
Things don't happen without funding. Where is this coming from?
training, uniforms, flights/transportation, meals, hotels, etc, etc, do not come for free.
We can all sign up for a 'thing that sounds great', but you may as well sign up again if you ploan to pay for it all yourselves - very admirable by the way - there is plenty of work for well trained refs who don't require funding!
