Hullo kids

Hopefully in the foreseeable future I'll be picking myself up an Angel (A4) Fly or a good spec eblade. At the moment I have a WDP A.I.R system with a 1.1 bottle (in test until 10/05).

With my new marker set-up I am really aiming for as minimum weight as possible and as we all know the WDP reg aint the lightest of puppys out there. I was wondering about the suitability of a 450PSI preset air system and would it be good for my needs? The plan is to sell the reg i have and with the money purchase a preset reg to go on my current bottle and also the necessary rail & asa with on off. Now I'm sure that the preset reg is much lighter than the one I have at the moment but once the weight of the rail/asa (either CP or Planet) has been added, would it be much lighter than what i already have?

Also, with these new rail & asa doodahs like planet's and CP's is it possible to have the asa mounted a bit more forward than directly under the grip? I don't want a silly drop forward but i would like the rather telescopic preset+asa configuration a bit more forward so it is a similar length to my current system.

Your opinions & advice please, thanks in advance.

A 450 preset would be just dandy for the A4. I've heard it said by people who use Eblades that you'll want more than that running to the 'cocker, lest you starve it for air, but as I don't shoot one myself, I couldn't say for sure.

I used a cp micro-drop from planet with the sp asa very light & it positioned the reg right under the trigger frame

Well....

Presets are lighter, but the secondhand (and new) prices of A.I.R. regs has bottomed out, so the resale value of your Air is low! I thought that the WDP preset was just a rebranded reg (something like a PMI). A4's are quick, so if you can try a few systems (from your team mates) first it would be a good idea. Just to be sure the reg doesn't suffer shootdown.
As for ASA's these are sweet!

Allegedly, according to Mr John Rice, inventor of the Angel, the only preset Air system that can totally keep up with the potential speed of the Angel Fly is the Crossfire (he told a tech class in the states).

Having said that, few will get close to hitting the potential speed limit of the Fly (no-ones fingers are that fast!) but I found it interesting to know none the less...

I have a preset on mine (Crossfire) it works great. Use a unimount with on/off (available from WDP) to connect it to your marker.

Preset will likely be significantly lighter than your A.I.R. but not necassarily lighter than other adjustables like the macdev (my Crossfire with mount is about 300 grammes heavier than my old macdev reg)

Also, many presets come with the bottle loctited on the reg, which can be a pain to remove so it may be easier to just sell your old air system as a complete unit and buy the preset as a full system.

NPS have the Crossfires as do Fat Bobs (being a National distributer/reseller).

best thing i did was go 4 a screw in air mate....

but only issue i have w/ most screw in's is having the disadvantage of changing ur output pressure; i ended up going for a Duck xstream

its a screw in u can adjust w a wrench, i think the regs are about 70 quid so for an extra £20ish and a few grams

its certainly worth it:D
