To be honest, any form of digital mocking up of a field can't even come close to setting up the field on a training ground and walking it properly. Getting too precious over exact measurements is getting yourself into an losing battle. You just can't simulate the stances and the near infinite number of angles and perspectives generated from doing things like pushing back the edge of bunkers.
Although not ideal Max'd is a lot more accurate in terms of this simulation than the Quake/HL engine.
