I'm wondering how people on this forum consider the value of the post count number of other posters...
I've seen a few threads mostly where you get the (more than) odd interjection stating nothing more than "yep, me too - but it's doing wonders for my post count".
The question is - does this matter? Does a "me too" reply which adds to a forum post count stat actually add to a thread?
Why do people think that a high post count means something? And what exactly does it mean?
My opinion is that it means you spend more time on the web talking paintball bs as opposed to doing anything about it. Initial - non scientific - research shows that people with proven acknowledged achievements (eg MS promoters, top pro captains, owners of pb companies) have a low post count compared to people in the e.g. Outer Hebrides, Wales, Isle of Man and Ireland (before the flamers start - please count the post stats first).
Does this mean that the people who really understand paintball as a game/industry/sport and who do something about progressing it in that form spend v little web time as a result? And conversely, people who spend little time actually "doing" spend a lot of time "talking" (maybe through no fault of their own, since if they can't play then the next best thing is to talk)
Back to the main question - what is it that makes people think posting a 4-figure number of posts on an internet forum makes your opinion more worthy than that of everyone else on that forum?
