Ok I have already read the "announcement" by TJ saying just plainly NO ! However I don't believe any real research has been done, so to the point of this post.

We have a forum with a couple of new sections all with guidelines at the beginning (well most of 'em do )

We DO NOT have anywhere that we can talk..well type actually.
So with that in mind and also 'cos we seem to have lost a couple of regular posters.

DO YOU AS USER OF P8NTBALLER.COM WANT A CHAT ROOM?

(hey have rules thats fine but we, well it does looks like more than one or two people want it)

Post away...for as long as this thread lasts ....(BTW Little Jon be civil if you do post in this thread 'cos if you don't that WILL get this thread closed)

I think that it's been made pretty clear that it's not "up for a vote", unfortunately.

Yes, given the option, I think it would have been nice for a chat room.

Email and phone are all well and good, but there are people on here I chat to who I've never met and never will, and were it not for the existence of this board, I never would have known them at all.

But the mods have made their decision, and we should respect that. If u really want to chat, I know of a board that has a much more "relaxed" attitude... (see my sig!)

Ok I see where you are going but as you have just said "But the mods have made thier decision"., without getting this into a slanging match (who ever thought this was a democracy etc ) We the users are the people who this has been provided for, we the users are the people who post and promote this board (see above for meeting of people through this board)

Some people have announced they are off from these boards due to the cracking down of rules........what bloody rules they change with the damned wind, ok sometimes things do get out of hand but then the mod's are required but that is the exception not the rule. So in an effort to keep these people and others who haven't posted thats why I posted this thread If was able to post a real poll with vote viewing etc I would have as it is this will have to be a reply to post kinda thing

Most all the changes that have happened within this forum has been first posted as a "whatcha think of this idea" thread first. The difference here is that due to the glut of "thank you etc see ya at the pub" posts a clamp down has been enforced (though not that effectively as a couple of threads are hanging around with banter going on) an idea to stop and IMPROVE traffic to the site has been raised and no discussion no pros or cons just a plain NO! All that will now happen is people will stop coming to the boards as frequently as they do now.

Incidently I do use chat programs but as Phillip will tell ya I have visited the so-called Paintball ones a handful of times so I won't be rushing to visit a P8NTBALLER one but would drop in from time to time . It is mainly the concept of giving the users what they want and as no "proper" (or at the very least public) discussion has taken place, thats why I have posted this thread (I know I have already said that but it needed to be repeated )

i have to agree with the mods on this one, this is a paintball site so you come here to talk about paintball. everybody on these boards have helped me tremendously! i would hate to see it get filled with senseless chit-chat. thats just my two cents.

Hey everyone to their opinion, but then you will see a drop in the info you require if people leave the forums...having a chatroom for whatever and of course PAINTBALL !!!! (different rooms for different subjects) That will keep them on this site.

As soon as the dribble becomes a deluge, Techroom will become like Newbies and silly threads that have been covered time and time again will reappear (A DOT usage thread should be in the Gold forum btw not classic per se but essential none the less)

The Mods have cracked down as soon as a thread waviers a little, in some cases way too hard in others not hard enough.

Ok we don't want the "OI You F***ers, and Hey your Momma s***s" etc like you DO get on a good deal of "other" forums, but at least they do have section to allow members to "talk" about things other than paintball. Unless everyone of your friends are into paintball have you ever tried to talk about your passion without them getting bored? you soon run out of paintball topics even amongst hardened paintballers, so a little light relief would be good.

Please feel free to repeat the same mantra as often as you like--3 times in this thread so far--and if things change as dramtically as you seem to be predicting perhaps others changes will be made.
I do appreciate that you have made an effort to be constructive unlike some of the other recent posters and while the answer you received was no, it wasn't off the cuff or as dismissive as you seem to think. The whole subject has been under consideration for some time with pretty much all points of view expressed. And real efforts have been made and are being pursued to discover a variety of things about site activity in general and the forums in particular. Folks do care what happens here and if you or I or some others don't always see eye to eye on the results you are still left to weigh the sum and choose to participate or not.

And some of our fellow posters might consider the "value" of their contributions to these forums before judgments are made about how their absence will affect the overall forum's vitality.
While we all value differing opinions and voices the site doesn't exist to meet either my demands or yours and for those who are no longer satisfied there are a plethora of other sites available.

I was beginning to think that with the new forums appearing and such, that I'd take another look at the forum descriptions, to see what they're for

It appears that SYB is

the trash talkin' forum reserved for 'ballers with attitude

So what I'm thinking is, if we want to vent our opinions about how sucky the reffing was at our last tourney, we do that in either of the tourney forums. If we want to let the world know what we think about bolt X for marker Y, we do that in tech.

If we want to "trash talk" we do it in SYB.

But seriously, I've made quite a few friends through the forums, and dont have any other place where I chat to them, and it's a pain in the proverbial to try and have a three way conversation in PM's - sending each message twice.

Which is why we should have either a slighty more free forum (shoot da breeze), or an official p8ntballer chatrom - he problem with chatrooms being that anyone not online at the time, doesn't get to see you comments - this is another reason that the forums work so well, you say your bit, come back half a ay later, and you have a few different opinions.

Wow, well I was wondering how come LJ hadn't put in his two cents... and have just noticed that he's been banned! When did this happen? Was it cos of the "I'm leaving" thread from last night?

Pass - but since he announced his leaving yesterday I guess it doesn't really matter anyway.

And again, I'll repeat that I understand why people want chat rooms, forums for talking about cribbage and maybe a nude hot chicks forum too; fact is we talk about lots of stuff, we implement certain things, we are constantly listening and paying attention and we have our reasons for doing what we do which have been thought out and talked out between us.

The fact that these discussions are not made public doesn't mean they don't take place. The fact that one of you, or ten of you, might want a Ford Mustangs forum doesn't mean it's going to happen.
