if you are on a budget fella, SLG, cos' for the money you would pay for a PMR could get you an SLG and a good hopper to boot. That's assuming that the SLG is worth it's salt, I wouldn't know.
If they were not cycling properly, it could simply be that the LPR was set too low. If they were breaking paint (and it was not simply bad paint/too brittle for the cold) then it could be that the LPR was set too high.
