Jeez, how early do you guys get started, I thought 8am was bad, thatrs dedication that is. I'm really glad that this is going ahead, no matter what the price I think it'll be well worth the trip down to Englandshire.

I really like this idea, especially if it's set somewhere central so it's easy access for everyone. I also wouldn't mind an entry fee, especially if a ticket number doubled as a "star prize" raffle ticket, (and the star prize doesn't have to be massive its the chance to win something we all like)

If I can offer a suggestion on the structure for consideration, Bully has said that the event would be for all paintballers, could we open it up further. I work in HR and every year there are events like this organised, they basically split into 2 parts, the paid event and the free event. Paid delegates get into all the special talks, have an exclusive area and usually have paid for the 2 days; free delegates get to walk around the vendor stands and chat and purchase and get to see the event but not all of it. Sometimes the vendors put on a demonstration or something that they can watch or a talk from someone but the point is they don't get to see the whole event unless they upgrade their ticket, (if allowed at the event) or they pay entry to the talk etc they want to go into and that is usually more on the day that it would have been pre-booked. But if you hook them with the freebies then you can get them into the rest of the event (exclusive evening dinner-dance perchance:p)

Would this work here? Surely one of the good things about a national event is the publicity, somewhere like the Trentham Gardens site mentioned earlier would probably know who in the local media might cover the event and even if it doesn't make it onto local TV it might hit local radio and if part of the fee we paid put an ad in the local paper advertising the event you might just get a few people coming along to see what it's all about, hell they might just buy something from a vendor or sign up for info on local sites; if nothing else it would raise the profile of paintball.

I know this would complicate things with event liaison, security, insurance etc etc, but it could be an extra source of revenue for the event (car parking, catering etc) allowing it to be even better.

Feel free to tell me its running before walking but I though it better to contribute than sl@g off :D

In theory, it's a good idea Cube because the event can always do with extra revenue streams, but in practice mate, I think the resources we will have available would be better directed toward optimising the paintball demographic and getting them to support us.

People might think paintballers' support would be a given but I been in this game a long time and I think a lot of effort needs to be put into getting us off our fat asses and thru the doors.
I know a lot of people on these boards are gonna voice support but it's one thing voicing support but quite another getting that voice to actually attend the event.

I hope this answers your question mate, but then again, Steve might take another view on this and so we'll see what his thoughts are, if and when he posts them up.

I think a seminar on the history of the EPSF / UKPSF showing what has been done for paintball over the years, such as keeping paintball markers legal in terms of the firearms act etc, if it was not for the efforts of Terry and Steve over the years there is quite a good chance we would not be where we are now playing the game we love.

Aside from the insurance aspect I have had a few people question why they should get a UKPSF membership, such a seminar would let them know exactly why, to protect paintball in the UK.

I think this idea is brilliant, as it will bring the paintball community together.

as for price, well I think most of us care more for the future of our sport, than the small hole it will put in our wallet.

You'd think that but people are often stingey when it comes to giving other people money.

Would it be too much to suggest that the event be somewhere near a public transport link?

Us lowly students aren't the most mobile people in the world, and with the amount of paintball societies around, it'd be a great chance to get people more aware and involved in the different areas of the sport.

I know it's not a necessity, but having more people that are able to attend is a benefitial thing, right?
