"A Pro Shop"

Wouldnt work if your only market was tournament players (of all experience), unless by "Pro" you mean something else.

Hey there, just wonderin why exactly u need to know how many p;ayers there are. If you are going to set up a shop u just need to go for it but make sure you advertise it and get your name out to as many people as possible. Where are u thinking of settin it up (worcester). It would possibly work in this area as i dont think this area has got a shop, but make sure u know how much it is gonna cost first cus costs that u never thoughtr of will kick u up the ass.

hey brutal, yep looking at having the store in worcs (area anyways) have found a nice unit near M5 junc 6 for all you hard core gunner out there that travel distances to tourneys, will (evetually be able to provide you with anything and everything you need for a game and have started getting links in with suppliers so we can get gear shipped i so you can pick it up en route or whatever. costs are still being thought out, not got very far as all the suppliers lists are in a format my PC carn't read, so its back to snail mail lol

only needed a guesstimate of player numbers for the market research side of our busines plan (has to be done im afraid)
just so the grant board and bank can get an idea of how many people their are and at a rough guess from that we can guess how many folks would use the store either by mail order or "drop ins".. they have also asked for graphs and charts etc etc, and havn't a clue how to find the details for them..... ahh well shouldn't be too llong before we're up and running y'all know because someone in this sceme has started planning a big official opening ceremony (dunno why lol),,,,,,,,,,,if ur on ur wway to a tourney when the store is open and need paintballs or whatever feel free to drop in or stop by for a quick cuppa before resuming the journey :D

thanks again for all the help guys and sorry for the long reply

well if u r thinkin of numbers look at just in the uk masters i think there was bout 75-80 teams enter during the course of the year all with at least 5 members of each team. That is just 1 set of tournies and plus i imagine there is 100s upon 100s of recballers.

Also u will have to head mainly towards mailorder as that is where u get out to the masses and where most businesses no matter wot there trade will make their money.

I would broaden your scope as well... include other sports that are more mainstream.

There is a shop in Northampton called Guerrilla that caters for boarders, paintballers and a few other "Extreme" sports.

Get yourself a table football, DVD player for those paintball vid's and coffee machine to encourage guys to hang and buy. Will probably make the most from the coffee to begin with.

With regards to players... get the results tables for the year from the tournaments, compile them into a list and remove the duplicates... as far as the PA teams go with the exception of a few teams all the players play on other teams so I would estimate that maybe on 40% or less are seperate players

yeah id say go for other sports aswell like aggresive inline and boarding as the products dont take up much room in the shop and inline dealerships such as salomon, roces, k2, razors, usd etc etc are always looking for new suppliers and as far as im aware there are loads of skaters from ur way, and parts and maintenance are cheap to supply and charge for labour etc etc but whilst the skaters and bladers are in they will b like hey cool looking "guns" i want one so will get a wider variety of ppl not just pure bread commando ballers!

Basically I think we are saying, Paintball is a very niche market and you should think to broaden your apeal and maybe cross sell the markets... Skate borders thinking about snow boarding, inline skaters looking to shoot people at the weekends.

Sell them coffee while they are there at 20p a cup, money for old rope or give it away gratis to make them feel loved and appreciated... that would go a long way towards creating consumer loyalty.
