Yup, I'm pi$$ed off.

I played the 7-man warm up at Temple on Sunday, and all I can say is I'm dammed angry, and if teams play like that at Campaign, it's gonna be the worst tourney I play in.

Basically, my gripe is this. All but two teams I played against (Shockwave-whilst guesting for Overlord, and Nam) decided:

"That player with his marker in the air, no armband on, who is outside the tape walking away from us must be pulling a dead-mans walk"

or various combinations of these things. What gives this away? The copious amount of hits I took after calling myself out.

No, really, I've got my marker in the air, that means I'm not sure if I'm hit, so put another ten on me to make sure. Idiots.

Unfortunatley, I can't remember the name of the team who's front player decided to put at least ten to fifteen on me, but thanks, I've almost got 3/4 of the movement back in my right arm, which has been dead since sunday (it's now tuesday afternoon.

And as for the chap who put about seven into my pack and back, thanks for the extra three to the base of my skull and neck, after I had stood up. Really appreciated. Cheers.

The point of this? I just need a whinge about being lit to feck when I'm already out of the game.

The other point? When are we going to get proper penalties for over-shooting/lighting up dead players?

Yes, I realise that we all want to guard against dead mans walk, but if a player is outside the tape with his marker in the air, or you have just put four or five on his/her back, then leave it at that.

Bad luck on the shots. Personally, I played the front line on sunday and had no problems, so I would suggest your welts would be to do with a reputation for dead mans walks that your team seems to have aquired.

Just a thought, Dan.

Bugout have used the dead mans walk a fair bit so i can see what dan is on about .
But my back middle player was muged out in one of our games by 2 players at the same time no probs with that but as he stood up the other tree players from the other team lit him and the 2 marshals up as well.
Bad luck you may say it was only his second time playing and i had to explain that the 25 hits on him that right we counted them, the 25 hits was not the norm.
Still could have been worse it could have been me that got muged.
See you all at campaign.

Over reaction??

I played in the tourney too Flash - and against your guys I believe (playing for Milhouse) and I can say that over shooting was never intentional or even happened.

I don't believe that any of our players did that anyway and certainly none of our guys got any extra hits themselves from anyone else.

So like Dan says, maybe some teams (ours excluded) has sussed you, right or wrong, for pulling the old DMW.

Either that or you were unlucky or just moanin a bit too much now!!!

I have to agree with Mark.

I spent quite a lot of time walking off the field not long after a game started and didn't get lit up at all. I certainly didn't intentionally shot any dead players and I'm certain that neither did any of my teammates.

Maybe you were just having an unlucky day?

On the whole Sunday was a very enjoyable tourney and i hope these sentiments are shared by all who played. However, having spent the day watching my front line and the marshalls getting lit to crap (after they had clearly declared themselves out and the marshalls had indivcated this), i think it is only fare to narrow down the area of concern to a small number of players on a small number of novice/am teams.

By no means did all the teams we played cause problems or play at a level of aggression that was unwarranted, however, there were a small number of 'guest players' (not you nick!), some players who think they are am, and some declared am players that were to blame. Maybe they felt that playing on is as common at novice level as it is at pro and am (opening another kettle of fish???) and saw the only means of dealing with it as shooting excessively.

However, having played long enough i know that the cases to which Flash is refering and the examples that i watched from the side lines were, in my opinion, wholly unjustifiable. The overshooting made marshalling a nightmare and if this had of occured at a tournament open to public spectators the image portrayed would have done all kinds of damage to the sport. When it occurs at a tournament where the prizes are not measured on a scale anywhere near to that of the millenium series then the question has to be asked 'what is the point?'

As far as i am concerned the only time when you need to shoot an oponent more than the initial burst is if they turn on you. In all the cases i witnessed at the weeend this happened only once.

Don't forget at the end of the day all sport is played primarily for enjoyment. If you have forgotten this fact, are you in the right sport?

These are just my views and are not ment to start any ill feeling. But just give some thought and remember the golden rule 'what goes around comes around!'

Stay Chilled.

C'mon Hermitt

If it happened - say who did it!!!

I can't believe that Bugout were the only team to have it done to them - Milhouse and AFGM were both free of overshooting/aggressive incidents.

Just curious

I'm sorry about incidents like this, however did you seek the opponent out and ask what happened. If its a mistake take the apology, most guys are sorry when something happens such as this. This is also a good way to show your a good sport. If this was intentional lighting up well talk to the judges. Give us a universal symbol of out or give us death. I suffered punishment that forced me to take a day off from a scenario. Suffice overshooting does happen but without at least attempting to talk to the team in question how do you come to the conclusion its intentional.

Also what does everyone use for those injuries that seem to always happen during tournaments. Discusses proper medical procedures for bruises, possible broken bones, and any miscellaneous crap that always happens when you least expect it. Besides Ice and Mineral Ice (this stuff is god).

it's not as bad as you think...

just be glad you're not playing stateside where bonus balling is the norm - especially when a member of your team tries a dead man's walk...ain't that right Mark? DMW a US team and (if they suss you) expect to get about 50 balls in the back!

Seen it happen enough times.

Hmmmm

Yes well that aint as funny as it sounds now does it??

The incident you are talking about (and we won't be mentioning names) saw an already, fairly, eliminated player doing the 'bonus balling'. In fact they weren't 'bonus balls' as the shots were taken when our player was till in and that player out. And the result - nothing - a 2 or 3 for 1 should have been the result.

So Mr Big - your example not exactly in context eh??

But I agree - do a DMW that gets spotted and expect a whole bunch of the BB's!!!
