So I have been searching the web and I want to know is it worth getting a pistol?

If so can you guys advise me what to look for?

If you're going to be playing open events where people can use any style of marker they like, then no, not really, unless you like the idea of being at a significant disadvantage due to the limited amount of paint they can hold.

If you're going to play magfed only events, where everyone will be shooting either a pistol or magfed gun of some type, then yes, go for it!

Will it be handy if i run out of paint and have no time to reload my hopper ?
No. If you can draw a pistol then you can reload.
Technically you can draw and shoot a pistol in 2 steps, to reload you need to draw the pod, flick the lid, flick your hopper lid (or use a speed feed) pour and shoot. You can draw and flick open in one step, and pour in another - so it can be 2 steps again
Put practice into pointing your gun and loading a hopper at the same time and you can shoot and reload

Not to put a downer on pistol ownership, as I am a pistol lover

Pistol play is fun. Up against normal players you are at a disadvantage
You can have very small setups with a full hopper and air system to do the 'compact' job of a pistol

As an emergency sidearm paintball pistols are a waste of your money
Learn to maintain & resolve problems with your main

On the empty hopper situation take it as a lesson learnt if you experience it and ensure you don't run empty before reloading

I've brought myself a TIPX just to put myself at a disadvantage... To make me to play more tactically. Where I'm currently playing they use 98s with a few people bringing Rails.... Quite looking forward to having a massive disadvantage and learn a new skill set of stalking and really picking my shots.

buy the best paint you can that will go through it, nothing more frustrating than hitting someone with the one or two shots you have only to have it bounce. I got someone on the lens with my pump last Sunday - bounced, his shot back broke on my neck - that's the last time I buy cheap paint!
