Get an Angel

I started with a spyder and i thought it was quite good... But if you want to be able to compete then your going to need a better gun like an Angel. I always search for mine on eBay cos they are sometimes dirt cheap.

Here is another good auction I found worth bidding on:

Pros for a fishy:
• PMI's customer service
• General build quality
• Relatively rarer (less common than spyders)

Pros for a spyder:
• You can get parts/upgrades from almost anywhere (although most parts are interchangable with piranhas so this isnt huge)
• errr...

To be honest, the differences between the two aren't all that much...they're both stacked tube blow backs, quite simple, easily upgraded and reasonably priced. I shoot a spyder, and it's fine for me, but if I could go back in time to when I bought it, I would've gotten the fishy. The only thing that put me off a piranha was the plastic frame, but to be honest all the hassle of the staggered holes and metric threads on a spyder are not worth it.

all i have to say is

i had a spyder victor for a while and had no problems with it at all, and only ever broke 1 ball. so basically i can vouch for the reliability of the marker, also its simplicity makes it an ideal starter marker, easily repaired.
also easily upgraded, apart from drop forwards because of that bloody diagonal screw thing they do on most of their guns' trigger frame.
one thing tho, the brass valve screw thing tends to come loose on spyders, (under the trigger frame, up in the body) and causes the gun to shoot wrong, this needs improving.

I had a spyder victor like derick did and it was great. Only problems i had were the fact that the first time i used it the bolt got jammed and took some nifty elbow grease to fix it. Also the valve pin does always come lose which can also be a pain. The stock springs in spyders arnt usually very good (its about 50:50) so i replaced and then it was firing to hot! Because of this it caused the screw in the trigger frame to come loose so i lost it. I would say go with the pirrahna but spyders do hold there ground. :D

Out of the two markers then I would say the piranha.

PMI have a great track record for customer service.
Piranhas are slightly better made
Spyders have metric threads which is a pain to get parts without buying converters.
Spyders have that stupid offset screw layout for drop forewards.
Many of the spyder range will not let you simply buy a new expansion chamber, gas through grip or regulator as again you need an adapter.

BUT it is a lot easier and cheaper to buy a spyder in the UK.
Of the two websites in the UK that stock piranhas, they are both way overpriced.
Rekka are selling an Eforce piranha for £350
Paintballdirect are doing a PRO TS for £285

If you do want a piranha then it will be cheaper to get it from the US.

If you buy one from www.rjskateworks.com then they are more than happy to ship to the UK. Postage would be about an extra £30 and then add about another %20 to your final price to find out import duty.

Looking at the price of the above mentioned markers then if you got it from the US then it would cost you:

Eforce= £170
PRO TS= £170

That includes shipping and imort tax.
