General fitness is needed, so do wahtever you need to.

I try to swim every morning, goto the gym 3 or 4 times a week, go indoor climbing 3 times week and go horse riding when I can and cylcle to work every morning.

Or atleast I did till I bust my shoulder, now I'm just starting to swim again (shouldnt really, my shoulder keeps popping out of socket while I'm swimming which is annoying and stupidly painfull).

Little things help to, dont take the lift or escalator use stairs whenever you can, if you've got a desk job go for a hard walk at lunch time and try to cycle to work.

flexability excercises, running, and most definately, go to the local gym. you should definately get into weight lifting, and if i were you, i'd also talk to the gym's fitness instructor about what goals you want(speed, agility, flexability, stamina, etc) and he/she can help make a workout routine that'll get you there.

The best thing to work on speed is lunges, yes we all hate them cause your A$$ will be sore for a week, but as a former track coach, that is the way to increase your speed. Also something as simple as stretching well before you go to bed and when you get up in the morning will help you tremendously, it will make you more agile.

to me badminton is cool, cause you have:
to react quick,
you can train on developing ideas for a next move in very short time,
you move your whole body,
you can play with your wrong hand, to get used in using it

badminton is not cool, cause:
you need someone who is at least at your level to play with, otherwise you are just beating a featherball over a net and hope your poor girlfriend will get it:D :D :D

I would just go out for a quick jog most nights and maybe do some sit ups and press ups. Good diet and ure away.

One good exercise is figure of 8.

You jog around the top and bottom of a footy pitch then sprint the diagonal. It wrecks ya try 10 see if ure fit enough?.

I'd say that yoga is the best thing in the world for enabling a front player to play tiny bunkers and be aware of his or her body. I like racquet ball for the speed. The other exclusively front player on our team does martial arts (I think kung fu) and wrestles, and swears by both as preparation.

Looking forward to that article, Bud3. I assume you were talking about 169, right?
