Pball in the future (not 2300AD :) )

 the idea of kids playing paintball in the garden frankly terrifys me! Those things only gave you safety specs to protect your eyes. But yeah, more toys like that!

I see what you're saying about "Premier league" and all that, but I like that fact that there is mixing even between divisions.

Don't get me wrong about the FHM magazine, it was just an example, though I can't quite see a Skirmish add fitting in Cosmo... the more girls in paintball the better, and I don't mean that in a "more Hot chicks" way!

Prostitute: I stand corrected. I missread your post.

But I also was not having a dig at anyone, I mean I’m with you anyone can play paintball I mean I’ve still got the welt from Sparklie when we had a 1 on 1.

To be honest to standard of play in Portugal was very high, there are a lot of good teams coming though.

Going back to the first point made...can't remember who said it...it may have already been said...the problem with WDP and other companies selling their guns in normal stores is that someone who is not in the sport of paintball could easily buy a gun and paint and go out and do something stupid with it, thus giving the sport a bad image and ultimatly dammaging the chances of it becoming a major sport. Clothing however i think is a great idea and i think that if we did get large scale manufacturers to start making clothes designed for us it would be a good advancement.

Also another thing holding it back mainly in this country and europe is the price of guns and paint. I think that we all agree that it is amazingly expensive to buy paintball stuff here.

and i agree with richard that if we did grow would we lose the friendlyness (spelling) that makes this sport so great?

Paintball will never become a recognised sport until a few things happen.

UNIVERSAL STANDARDIZED RULES : 5,7, or 10 man? Can we have a single rulesheet that works at EVERY tournament? Hmm?

UNIVERSAL RULES COMITTEE : people who work the 'front office', and not play.

a CODE OF ETHICS for the players : And a code that's ENFORCED.

A game that's VISUALLY exciting : Paintball is boring to watch becasue it bogs down after a minte. Then only gets exciting near the end. Playing 1 hopper games forces movement, but nobody wants to play "Hopperball" becasue "It sucks." It doesn't, it just forces movement by removing the volumes of paint. But this falls under the "Standards" bit...

Once we have that, then we can get to the media stuff, like cvoaching the athletes in how to be media savvy. At Skyball the players looked just helpless when tey were answering questions. "So you're looking forward to the finals?" "Uhh, yah." Huh?

Paintball is a hobby right now, to become a full fledged sport a lot of the players need to grow up, get into making a standard, and then work to become truly professional.

Amazing how many times we can say the same things in differant ways on these forums isn't it? We must have had this conversation at least half a dozen times and come to the same conclusions
i.e. girls can play paintball:D

Flame away:D ;) :D

what I really mean is Tyger is right we do need standard rules for all tournies and a governing body with NO vested interests
