Another crap idea from Tony Blair.
I suppose hes trying to go the way of the Americans who use toll roads and such (but i dont really see the toll M6 near birmingham to be a total sucess)
At the same time, hes trying to combat the issue of global warming. what better way to do so (or not) than to tax people for how much they emit. It is also in favour of people who dont drive much. But of course the vast majority drive in Britain which means its a disadvantage to most people.

i suppose its trying to dicourage people from being lazy *******s who decide to drive 100 metres down a road to get ther instead of walking (lazy ass parents who dont want their kids to get cold so drive their kids to school which is easily walkable... also why alot of kids are fat *******s). not considering people who need to commute long distances every day

but why would he give a ****. its money in his back pocket
ah well... its only a matter of time till it all crumbles to pieces.

petrol is taxed and dutied....

we pay VAT on fuel (17.5%), but on top of that we pay fuel duty (another 51.52p per litre of unleaded, or 48.35p per litre low sulphur diesel...)
Seeing as petrol is currently a few pennies UNDER £1 per litre (changing so much these days that I can never remember the exact price), that means more than HALF the cost of petrol is this additional "fuel tax".
It was calculated a few years ago that of the amount raised by fuel tax and car tax discs combined not much more than half was spent on improvements to roads.

They mentioned this on the news today, said the gooberment would take some account of it.

Like someone said, in most places due to public transport a car is a necessity not a choice; I'll happily not own a car in future if I don't have to.

Sign it. Also having talked to a mate in the tresory, he tell me that feul duty would not be reduce if road pricing was introduced. Also more sinster than that is the fact that all records of car's location and speed will be held on a central database. Surley this is again our human right. If you can't show the face of a convicted crimail who has escaped, but yet they can do this. This govement Already rips the motorist off to the extreame. Every 10 quid of feul you put in your car the govement gets 7 pounds of it. I think that not only should you sign it but also send an email to everyone you know with the link.

i heard on the new that the minister was saying it doesn't matter how many people sign it they will not take any notice of it - i somehow think this is bull cos it would be political suicide if enough people signed it. so come on peeps - send it to everyone that is coming of driving age or is already driving - email it round your school, friends and work.

This petition featured in a prominent newspaper yesturday, cant remember which one, might have been the Mirror, Mail or Sun, as those are the ones i usually glance at on my asda trips. Apparently, he(minister for transport....or some underdog) has said that he wont put the system through if he doesn't have the support of motorists, so i guess maybe this petition has done its job. Or hes just trying to avoid political suicide :D
