oh yes and..

thanks tortoise licker. i'll set about finding a patent officer once mymoulds finished and i have working prototypes.

as for releasing to many details, ive just said im making a paintball that will spin. a bit like saying im making a hoover that doesnt use bags.

just out of curriosity, what did your dad design?

it was a bit like a leatherman or gerber multitool but with interchangable attachments on it. but this was nearly twenty years ago when no-one had heard of leatherman and the closest you could get to a multitool was aswiss army knife.but my old man being a bit of a jobsworth over engineered the damn thing and thus made it to complicated so that it would have cost a fortune to manufacture.:D

STABB I didn't mean that the balls would fly faster. I ment that if there is internal structure to the paintball it would take more force to break. I was thinking that depending on how the structure is implimented there would be an increased chance of fracturing gogle lenses.

Had an idea myself for same purpose, don't know why no-one has done it yet. Think golf ball. Patenting costs money remember and you are looking at a very ltd market as few people use flatlines or rifled barrels. Bear in mind two things: paint is genrally quite viscus so there the velocity difference between the paint and shell is not actually that great. Also any method of making an internal structure is going to be expensive as a simple moulding procedure can not be used.

well, i made a paintball today, from scratch, tommorow i will set about trying to make my prototype. Ive taken everything youve said into consideration already, and not gonna think about patenting it less i see a difference in preformance between my homemade "normal" paintballs and my homemade "special" paintballs.

if you mean by "think golf ball" that you should make a paintball with dimples? then its already been done, but there was no noticeable difference in preformance, so it was never mass produced :(
hmmmm thats just given me an idea (in deep thought for at least a min)
