Stop right there!!!!!!!
you need to keep you lips zipped on your patent idea.
if you release to many details on any public domain media type( t.v. radio. publications the net etc) you cannot patent an idea
Many moons ago my old man came up with an idea for a new multi tool and went through the patenting route
The first thing you need to do is find a patenting officer in you telephone book and contact him.
when you go to meet him take as much info as you have in an easily readable format and any investigations you have made.
he will then advise you on what to do next and if he says that it is a good idea he will then investigate all the current patents that refer to your idea and if your idea is not covered by an existing patent he will then set up the patent for you.
the problem is that very few patents actually make it into production and the costs can be very high as getting to production can be a lengthy process.
an example is dyson vacum cleaners.
dyson spent years working on his idea for the cyclone vacum cleaner( even though its a smaller version of an industrial filtration unit) an had to build hundreds of prototypes. even when he had a good version up and running, when he approched the big cleaner manufacturers they dismissed his ideas as fantasy and turned him away. his only plan of action from here was to go into production on his own (very costly)okay he is now a multi-millionaire but getting started up cost him a packet and many years of time and stress.
I'm not trying to put you off as the paintball is the one thing in the sport that seems to be stuck in a timewarp and needs a new injection of ideas. But my suggestion is to go see a patenting officer and see what they have to say and what options are open to you.
And good luck and I hope your idea works.
p.s. my old man gave up on his idea after two years of investigation as the idea was to complicated and was very close two two patents already in circulation.which is why i have to work 40hrs a week and not set to inherite a small fortune
