OK, i know a little about plating but not a lot,
A lot depends on the gun.

If you can fill all holes prior to plating so that it only goes on the outside then should be no problem,

Really any plating other than annodising which is a tiny covering can affect it.

I will try to find the website for peterbourgh plating.
They annoed my whole shocker, barrel and various bits for £35 plus vat.

Its not as expensive as most paintball shops, but u do have to strip it all down and put it together yourself.
When doing this make sure u only give them ally, as anything else will dissolve and mess it all up :)

Woot, found it. click here

Heheh, somebody i know painted their tippmann with hammerite, it went from 2.6lb to about 6.9lb. The coat he put on it could resist a nuclear strike :p :D

right. the best way so make a old gun look new and sparkly is to get it annodised. painting it is a real bad idea, and will usualy make it look alot worse. car paint will wear off almost instantly.
as stated, painting it may cause problems coz u add to the size and so things may not fit properly.

annodising is totaly different, you add NOTHING. when you annodise you use acid to take of the top layer of ally and make it porus for the rest of the process, so it actualy gets very slightly smaller. but dont worry, you would have to re-annodise it several times to get any noticeable shrinkage.

now, it will cost more than paint but will look soooo much better.
you do have to strip your gun totaly, if you cant remove all non ally ( ie brass n steel ) then you wont be able to do it. if you cant strip yuh gun properly then get a shop / sum1 whos knows how to do it, but obviously they may charge you.

as for gettin it done at yuh local platers thats ok as long as long as they know what they are doing, annodising is a very hit n miss process and what you ask for may not be what you get ( differneces in greades of metal for one thing) if they arnt used to that sorta thing. maybe give em a test peice first?

best bet is take it to a shop, but that will cost more. sup to you mate but the cheap option aint always the best :)
