Whats the best paint to paint your gun with, I want to do mine up as it looks a right mess. I cannot afford to get it done professional so I will do it myself. Is car spray paint any good? Any tips?

Gonna sound sarcastic now but I don't mean to.......don't paint it 'cos it will look mess a whole lot sooner than it took to look bad now. A metal paint is needed but primed first...think about it the colour is bonded onto the ally you can't paint straight to ally normally, Hammerite is a good example of a metal paint but it doesn't like going on smooth (basically smooth) ally you have to scratch it up to make it stick, so a primer is a must but again don't do it you will regret doing it.

BTW before anyone jumps in a says Hammerrite is all rough when dried, they do a smooth finish as well. Still don't think it should be applied to a marker though :(

What marker do you have?
Some markers have such low tollerances and are made to fit exactly so that taking the marker apart and painting the wrong bit too thick will effect how well it will fit back together and how the componets sit together that it may/will bring more problems than its worth.

TB - Neddyboy has also posted this in the Tech forum. He has a Tipp 98.
Personally I wouldn't touch it. Clean it up the best you can but an amateur paintjob will always look amateur, and if you ever sell it on any new owner would have more of a problem getting it done professionally than if you'd left it alone.

hmm

would it be possible to galvanise a paintball gun, cos that could look good and would make it really scratch resistant aswell

For the same reasons Galvanising wouldn't work as you would be adding to the size of all the parts, and galvanising is done like plating isnt it? ie you have no choice where the metal coating goes, therefore it would plate the insides of all screw holes, all screw threads etc etc and i'de be suprised if you could even rebuild it.

Apart from that galvanising would add a lot of weight to your gun too!

what about electro plating galvanisation?, if you stripped it right down, and you could always remove it if it proved too hard to put together
