Hello Paintballers,

I am new to this forum so apologies if I'm not posting in the correct section etc! Please direct me...

I'm a TV Producer from London and working on the Channel Four Investigative Journalism Trainee Scheme.

Each year, we have four up and coming filmmakers take part. They’re talented, quite experienced, and great journalists. They can all film already – but we are teaching them how to shoot with better, more complex cameras in more challenging scenarios. Paintball seemed like a good event to film, to give them a wide variety of filming opportunities in an exciting but fundamentally safe environment.

Ideally, they would each film one person over the course of one or two days of a paintballing – either one-off matches or a mini-tournament. These could be games that were being played anyway, or matches held especially for training. The players would be filmed playing, and also giving interviews about why they play paintball and what the specific objectives are of each game.

Each trainee will make an individual six minute film and would need to be in touch with the person they were filming a couple of days before the match was held.

The films are not for broadcast but we would be happy to give you copies of the final films. I’d like to stress that the filmmakers would not get in the way of the players or interrupt game play. It should be really fun so let me know if any teams are up for the challenge!

The dates we are thinking of are as follows:
  • Thursday 19th and/or Friday 20th November - Filming with players about the upcoming match.
  • Saturday 20th and/or Sunday 21st November - Filming the match.
Many thanks for your time and consideration. Do drop me an email if this interests you.

Best wishes,

Harriet (hrose2015@outlook.com)

Neat!
@the yorkie man has a tournament coming up Dec 6th, at Bricket Wood. Which is in St Albans, Hertfordshire. That is a 1 day event, but it will be jammed packed with teams playing. It also may involve multiple fields so you could have multiple filmmakers on at the same time, or with a single field have a videographer per side.

If your dates are not as flexible as that, I am sure that there will be teams out practicing quite a bit at their local fields. @alexd @Rikk @blakey64 @Care_Bears are great contacts with teams who may be able to help.

Good luck and thank you for adding to the positive image of the sport.

Here are some teaser videos from larger events in case your trainee's need some inspiration: All 3 are from different producers.

From a media perspective you will need to consider some aspects you haven't yet mentioned:

+ protection: Of course the film makers will need a mask however I'm sure anyone you're filming with will be able to provide a spare, however I mean equipment. It's not required but I would advise some sort of cover for the cameras incase they are hit to prevent paint getting places you really won't want it. Also a hardy lens cap as a direct hit from a paintball will scratch the lens element.

Your dates: paintball is a weekend sport, so it may be difficult to find anyone training/ playing on weekdays. Also it's a shame you've picked at the end of the year as the majority or tournaments are March-September, this years season has ended. :( the best location would be at one of the cpps events next year (dates are not out yet)

Saying that! There is a ladies only training at cpps (in Birmingham) on the 27th Novembwr which would be great for you to attend. @ShelleyHicky

Sent you an email also.:)

There is a tournament on Sunday 22nd, (your dates are a bit out for the weekend)

It's the Super5ives in Southampton
I've dropped a message to the organiser Chris Malton and he may be able to put you in touch with teams involved

Southampton University's team will be involved and they're students so they don't do anything during the week

Myself (and my team) would be interested.
If you'd like more information on us, the sport itself, scheduled tournement dates, or anything else, please PM me and perhaps we can arrange a call.

Harriet, my friend above Amy told me about your post.
Our community as a whole would be very happy to accommodate you as we want nothing but to promote our sport. Paintball is very well known as playing in the woods with scenarios and wearing camo. In fact, us tournament players like to think our favourite hobby or past time is a sport and we would love to push it forward in our country as a professional sporting lifestyle and catch up with the rest of the world!
Please choose this aspect for filming.
Any questions please get in touch, my email is shelleyfarmer10@icloud.com

The female paint ballers in the UK are having a get together on Saturday 28th November at CPPS site in Penkridge. I know it's not the dates you are thinking but you are very welcome.

Many Thanks
