This is what happens when mainstream TV company's get there grubby mitts on paintball,Just be careful what you wish for
I agree with that, but lets remember that the major TV and movie corpations always b@stardise our sport, look at the film "paintball" or that rom-com when they where on a sup'air field (i forget its name) they will carry on doing this regardless, BUT if true paintball had a presence on TV then al least people can see it for what it truly is.

The format needs to change radically for it to be tv friendly.

I think straight elimination with markers firing only one ball every five seconds would be a great idea.

Cheap too :D

Don't get your hopes up...that much. It's ESPN3 which from what I understand is an internet-only channel.

call me out on this one if you want, but i actually really enjoyed the "paintball" film! For those who don't know it's like severance (if you've seen that), but instead of office workers being hunted by psychos in the woods rather comically, it's a team of woodsballers.
It was originally in spanish which i saw with subtitles, not sure whether they dubbed it for the english version or did a remake.

So this is gonna be on when? After the dodgeball and before the dwarf-tossing and all the other niche sports that nobody cares about? Because that's what this is, a niche sport that only people involved in it care about. I reckon the dwarf tossing-forums are the same, with a thread every other month about dwarf-tossing on tv.

Been thinking about this a bit before I posted - difficult!!

TV and paintball - do they mix?

Agree with Robbo to an extent...Live paintball isn't great. Unless you know what you are looking at (and even then its not always easy) understanding what exactly is going on is near impossible.

BUT - Having watched a lot of Derder movies and latterly the Eclipse Artifact series - paintball can look GREAT.

Live paintball for me is entertaining, but to a casual onlooker - nah! My penny (for what its worth) is that TV and paintball could mix. Just in order to do so, you would need a lot of cameras covering each match and importantly....a lot of editing.

That said, when it is done well - it looks amazing to veterans, newbs and non-paintballers alike.

No it can't. What Derder does looks good to US. Johnny Avarage wouldn't give a toss about it. Your non playing friends only say they think the videos you keep boring them with look awesome to appease you. Sorry, but that is the cold, hard truth.

I could watch some giant ass men run around a field, beating the sh*t out of each other.
Or I could watch skinny nerds shoot paint at something invisible.
I could watch angry, toothless Canadians punch each other in the head.
Or I could watch skinny nerds throw a hissy fit over a call.
I could watch seriously trained athletes go at each other in any pugilistic sport.
Or I could watch skinny nerds pretend to be gangsta for a weekend.

Want me to go on?
