Paintball markers now require licence?!

Just to make it perfectly clear
The New Legislation applies only to Air Weapons with a self contained gas cartridge system (internally fitted)
Modern Paintball markers use an externally attached gas system.

Sorry Liz, just to correct your post, it does not include 12gms powered markers it is something different they refer to in the Anti Social Behaviour act 2003.

It is a self contained gas cartridge system - imagine a bullet and you took out the gunpowder and replaced it with a gas cartridge this would be a self contained system. If the propellant and projectile are not together then it is not self conatined. This is the type requiring a licence.

No problem with you correctling me Steve, as I said it was just something I heard & I probably misinterpreted exactly what was said. Was I correct on the age limit thing though? I've been asked that one a few times. I'm pretty sure the rules are right but not sure if the ages I've quoted are.

omg licence -what about under 18's like our team does this mean we cannot borrow markers off the 1st team does this mean there is a grate chance off youths like ourselfs to find it hard to get into balling what i dont understand is paintball keeps kidz off the streets it did with me -the one thing that made me feel happy about starting to ball was the responce i got off the older ball ers (its nice to see young teens getting into the sport i wanna see my kidz ball but now its gonna be harder for them then it will be for me bye the time im 21 to purchase my own marker lol thew worlds gone mad why dnt they just do a rule only a person can have a gun registered with ukpsf that way people wont be able to buy second hand guns with out having new owners detials you now like a log book type off thing well i think its crazy this rule

If I understand correctly, the law isn't really affecting us *that* much. As under 17s, you were never allowed to buy your own markers. If you went to a paintball site you wouldn't be allowed to sign your own waiver either - this implies that whoever does, is taking responsibility for you whilst you're there.

And for the last time, no, you don't need to run out and get a licence. Yet.
